275/70/17 Picture request!

It's about time for new tires! been on my stock for almost 27K miles.

I see 285/70/17 is the most popular...but was hoping you folks would 275/70/17's would post some pics of your rides please. I'm looking to pick up some BFG TAKO's in that size.

Oh, quick question, will 275/70/17 fit in the spare tire well?

I believe that 285's barley fit in the spare location so you should be good on that front. The next 4 posts will most likely be about using the search feature.

Here you go. Went through much of the same dilemma. Just had 275/70/17's BFG AT's put on last Friday. Set the pressure at 45 psi. Also, running Bilsteins on all 4 corners. Front set at .85. Very, very happy with how she is coming along.
Just waiting around for my Shrockworks sliders that I ordered in March. They should be here end of June. Thanks to everyones insight and posts, such a huge help! sorry pic is so big. busy day at work!

Did the Bilstein's cure the nose dive? I can not stand how bad my 2014 dives when braking. Looks good.

Yes, they definitely took away most of the dreaded nose dive. After the Bilsteins the overall ride is much improved. I am very impressed.

Are you running wheel spacers? Those tires look great on the trail rims.

Thanks! No spacers, just the .85 setting up front on the bilsteins. No rubbing whatsoever. We will see what happens once I get it off road though.

Looks to me like that size is the perfect blend btwn stock and a 285 that has rub issues. Too bad it is made in such limited options. Not available in the BFG rough trail I want. Or the Gen Grabbers I'd consider 2nd. No wonder you only have 1 picture request poster.

there are a few 275 brands. Cooper, BFG, Firestone and Goodyear come to mind. You dont get many pictures because 285 is the most common jump from stock

Thanks again for the picture! By the way did you notice a significant loss in gas milage compared to the stock tires?

I like the looks of the BFG TAKO the best...also considering going with the C rated 265's because they are 10 lbs lighter than the E rated TAKO's. 270's only come in E rated.

Plus if I went 265's I feel alot less inclined to buy a 5th TAKO for the spare...decisions decisions

Jin, I will be calculating mpg soon. Keep you posted. Being that I went to a 275 I cannot depend on what the computer says on the runner anymore, it threw the accuracy of the speedo off my about 1mph, no big deal.

I was also looking at the duratrac in stock size, E rated as I have ripped through sidewalls before and have run nothing but E's on my tacoma for the last 8 years.
Last set I had lasted 70,000 miles. Believe it or not the BFG in a 275 was cheaper than a stock size duratrac E rated.

There are at least 3-4 other trucks with pics of the 275's, can't remember if they are in lifted thread or standard pic thread. All were 10-13 runners, I know as I considered it before buying my current tire, may consider it on next set given lift is coming for me. They looked good.

I promised my wife I would not modify my new for me (2012 4Runner trail) truck, but after joining this board I've started saving up for 275/70r17 tires (most likely Copper AT3's) and Bilstein 5100 shocks! im hoping she wont notice the difference! Does anyone have a picture of the Coopers in this size? i would love to see them on the stock suspension or running the bilstiens.

Very valid point and hence why most either stick with stock size or just go to the 285's But there is a difference and if you were considering an E load already the weight is hardly different. There is at least another option in 275 that doesnt weigh as much as the E BFG , the Mickey Thompson Baja stz which only weighs 1lb more then my current tire. Anyway, just options, gotta pick the right tire for your need and decide what sacrifices you are willing to make (mpg, noise,$$$, on road ride)
