285/70/17 front clearance question

Afternoon all,

For reference:
05’ Limited V8
285/70/17 Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 tires
OME 886/895
Bilstein 5100s

My OME/Bilstein lift was just installed along with the ARB bumper. My 4Runner is at the 4x4 shop getting the alignment done and the 285/70/17 tires put on the stock 17 wheels.

I removed the mud flaps on all 4 corners, I know I won’t rub on the front since the bumper is there. I know it’s possible I could rub on the body mount as well as the UCA, what other areas in the wheel well can I remove/massage to get out of the way for the larger tires?

Sounds like a sweet setup with the suspension, and bumper. My guess with the stock wheels, that tire size, without a wheel spacer, you're going to rub on the UCA's pretty hard.

So got it back and the caster is the best it’s going to get with the stock UCA’s. It rubs when turning left or right, it appears it’s rubbing the UCA.
I have zero interest in running wheel spacers.

the oem wheels are a 30mm offset - not sure if that’s a positive/negative offset. I have heard that the 5th gen trail wheels are 15mm offset which would get the tire further from the UCA. Wouldn’t that solve my problem?

Above are the wheels I’m picking up on Friday.

It should solve your problem. Rims with 0 offset will help even more..

I have no issues with the rear mud flap staying on.
The front mud flaps needed to be removed.

That body seam above the bodymount is like a knife to the tire when you mash the suspension.

Fold it over to the inside, a couple vise grip pliers to start the fold and the Big Hammer to finish it off.

However the more body lift you have the less issue you should have with the seam.

Sheeeeet, they sell blemished sets? I've been wanting these but can't bring myself to drop the money for new ones. But $550, I could stomach.

Indeed they do. You just have to ask if they have any available. At the time I ordered, he had some of the anthracite and some matte black. Mine are matte black. Dustin was polite and informative, but obviously busy. Super prompt service and super smooth transaction.

I won't be doing a body lift ever, the stock trail rims I was able to locate for $375 local off a 2017. So I'm going to go that route as well as folding over the pinch seam.

I'll have to keep an eye on this thread. I went from almost zero lift to 5100s set on 1.75 front and 1.5" rear spacer with Tacoma/FJ springs. Still stock UCAs. So when the guy aligned it everything was pulled forward. Now my bumper cover rubs any time I turn in reverse.....however, this is on 255/75R17s. Once these are shot I'm looking at the 285s.

I'm already running the SR5 "snowflake" rims. They're a dime a dozen on the boards. They've got the same offset as the "trail" rims but seem to go cheap ($200 for a set of new take-offs at the dealer).

I'll be doing some bumper trimming (stock plastic) and moving the liner this week. I'll just go ahead and chop a little extra "just in case".
