285/70/17 With Cornfed 1.5/1 Spacers

Hi guys,

I order some 1.5/1 spacers since i only want a mild lift. Can i get away from 285/70/17s on my cement 4runner trd pro? I know i will have no issue with 275/70s, but i want to see if i can play the bigger tires like the KO2s. Im prepared to remove the front mud guards if i have to for the 285s. Please advise. Thanks!

only had to remove the mud flaps on the front wheels and move the fender liner forward to clear 285's....No lift on the wife's trail.
 
I just added Falkedn Wildpeak 285/70/17s on Icon Rebound wheels with a 0-offset. I have very slight rub (when going in reverse) with the stock PRO suspension.
If you lift yours, it'll likely be fine - meaning no trimming. I will be moving my fenders this weekend. The point of contact is towards the front... the mudflaps seems to clear just fine.

btw... I have TRD Pro so my bumper has the "factory" trimmed bumper and adjusted fenders already.

Hey bud,

Do you have side pictures of your truck? Its amazing you can fit 285s on a pro with stock suspension! I think every truck is a little different. Since mine will be mild lifted, i would think i will still have minimal rubbing. As long as i dont have to chop my bumper, i can give 285s a try.

From my understanding, KO2's run smaller so you might be fine. I'm still on stock alignment too.

I can now answer my own question. After going back and forth on 275 vs 285 KO2s, I pulled the trigger on the 285s and mounted them today. They run smaller compare to other tires. For those of you who drives a TRDP, they will fit with 1.5 inch front spacers. I did not have to do any trimming on the bumper, pull the front liner forward, or body mount chop, but I did removed the front mud guards just in case. I have no rubbing at all! Will be doing more testing and take better pictures! For those of you who are on the fence, just go for the 285s and call it a day because you will not regret it.

The reason you didn't have to trim the bumper or pull the front liner forward is because they do that ahead of time on the TRD Pro models.

You will likely have rubbing (e.g. back out of a driveway at full lock causing suspension travel), but you probably won't notice it until you see rub marks inside the wheel well.

I have 275s on my TRD Pro and have found evidence of rubbing in the wheel well even though there's no rubbing during full lock at a standstill.

I will pay close attention to the wheel well. Hope it wont have any rubbing!
 
With such a mild lift, I doubt UCAs are at all necessary.

Also, be mindful that 285s require a 7.5” minimal width wheel. True TRD wheels are only 7” wide.

Just ordered the 1.5/1” kit from Burtman/Cornfed. How did the 285s do with the lift after driving it for some time? Any issues? Are the 285 K02s smaller than 285 Risge Grapplers from what your saying? Also do you have any more pics with the 285s on? Really want to get the 285 Ridge Grapplers vs settling with 275 K02s, but I guess if I can get away with 285 K02s then that i can seems like the happy medium.

If you check the OP’s posts you will see that he sold his 1.5/1” spacers and upgraded to 2.25/2” spacers with a larger 285/75-17 tire. I have the 1.5/1” Cornfed lift on my Pro and I am considering a 285-70-17 myself. My center of hub to top of the inner fender arch up front is 22.5” and 23” in the back. I am currently running 275’s.
