285/70 or 265/70..which one would you choose?

I use 265/75/16 BFg I have OME 3" lift etc.
I keep with this size because I DO alot of Off roading and the width is not why I get stuck , Plus the Atrac likes this size tire better/ also the whole front end likes a smaller rotating Mass, Etc . Ihave several friends That use the 255/80/16 Size in BFG Mud terrains with good results.Just depends on what you really want and use your vehicle for .

just to clarify for everyone: 265/75/16 and 265/70/17 are the exact same diameter tire, and exact same width tire. only difference is the rim hole

Anyone know if 33's will rub with a cornfed 3/2 and fj struts? Anyone have this setup?

285's!!!!!!!!!!!!! i made the mistake of 265's and regret it. now i gotta burn those out before 285's!

I bought 265/70/17 for a few final reasons:

-I need to keep mudflaps on the truck to save my rocker panels from canadian winters.
-I need a usable spare tire, and the 265/70/17 fits in the stock location... the 285/70/17 does not.
-the Speedo will only be off about 3% with 265/70. with the 285/70 its more like 7.5%
-I am installing a 2.5/1.5 lift, and I've only seen pics of the 285's on trucks with 3inch lifts.. so I imagine I wouldnt look quite as good. and possibly more rubbing.

when the trucks warranty is up, and a X-reas shock absorber blows up.. then I'll go with coilovers and remote resi's :fro:

I would think 265 would be the better choice, becouse of mileage and power concerns… unless you where thinking about re-gearing.

... and add the Speedo Healer to tweak the odo but I am very happy with the results. But mine are 16's so this post may be irrelavent. My $.02 anyhow.

I would stick with the 265. The 285 will suck more power and mileage away. I had a power lose and mpg lose just going to bfg allterrain 265/70/17. I am not happy when I lose any power, I do not care what it looks like. If you went to a 4.10 gear ratio then go with the 285, otherwise stay with 265.
