285/75/16 mpg?

Curious to what you guy are getting MPG wise. I am moving in a few months and getting 14 MPG on the freeway isn't an option. So when I upgrade (soon) the MPGs will play a decent role.

I know tires have different sizes and different weights which can contribute, just trying to get an idea of a range.

Haven't seen this thread for this tire size, but if there is one, show me. Already surfed the MPG thread. :frog:

Rough estimate, I'd expect about a 5% decrease in mileage from what you're getting now.

Getting 17mpg with 90% highway driving and corrected odometer.

I personally saw a larger drop when I put on my ARB!

I'm getting 14.5 mpg around town and 18 on the highway with mine with 80 LC wheels. I also have ARB/CBI/other stuff.

Wife's identical but full stock 2002 gets 16 / 20.

We are both running BFG TA AT's - she has 235/85x15's, though.

13-16 average (unadjusted mileage- not compensating for bigger tires) on 285/75/ duratracs as well so probably about the same except no way I see 20mpg's lol I've always got the rear loaded and roof rack though.

14.57 mpg on my last tank running 33's heavy front bumper full skids winch. All the heavy extras. Primarily around town driving. Not re geared.

I wouldn't expect more than 5% loss, but it really depends on the tire. If you run an E-rated mud-terrain expect to lose more than if you run a C-rated All-Terrain. My rig will see mostly pavement with the occasional trip to the beach, so I am going to run a C-rated All-Terrain, most likely the Treadwright's since they are such a great deal.

I got 19.69 out of my last all highway trip on Duratracs, cruising 75 actual, and there was a good crosswind and some rain. Far from ideal, i should break 20 on a good day.

x2 one thing to remember is NEW from the factory our trucks were rated 16 City 19 Hwy. The fact that I am over 1000lbs heavier than stock with 240k miles and still getting almost the same as rated new is incredible. I average 30k a year and hoping with tax return to regear and get a little better mileage.

Ok, NOT a 285/75R16 since I'm running Tundra wheels, but with 285/70R17 BFG A/T's (D range) aired to around 38-40 psi I got 277.5 miles to my last tank (gps corrected--my odometer read 259.4 miles), and the fill up (this morning) was 15.2 gallons for an average of 18.25 mpg. I've been averaging that for the last month or so... since I put my K&N FIPK back on (stock filter was pretty stopped up).

The MPG before putting the K&N back on was about 1 mpg lower, but I attribute that to the nasty air filter I had in there, not "instant MPG boost" because I put the K&N back on. I went from a nasty stock filter/airbox to a freshly cleaned K&N, so it should flow better.

I think most that do get better gas mileage with 285's have done some sort of intake and/or Exhaust modifications.

I replaced my stock airbox with an Injen Intake with the new dry Amsoil filter. I also put a Borla muffler on to increase the exhaust flow.

I get 16 to 19.5 mpg on the highway at 70 - 75 mph on mine. It depends on whether there are alot of hills and the weather.
