285/75/16

I have looked both on this website and also on the chaos edition website and have not found the answer for the following question. I have a cornfed lift (3/2) and would like to put 285/75/16 BFG TA/KO on my stock 16 inch rims. I do not want to have to worry about rubbing under full compression or when making tight turns in the city. I know that mud terrains will rub, but I haven't heard anything about the all terrains. Will it work?

I know this was covered in multiple threads but here goes:

It will rub unless you trim material from the wheelwells - mostly plastic. You also have to remove the mudflaps.

In addition, the tire may rub on the upper control arms depending on brand and tire model. YOu can avoid this by using after market rims with proper backspacing or by getting wheel spacers.

from what I recall reading and researching you will rub regardless when running 285's (even those running a/t tires). just the nature of how small our wheel wells are. hence the reason why many go to 275's as an alternative. the only problem w/ 275's is that i don't think they make 275's for 16's so you really get stuck with either going 265.75.16 or 285.75.16.

those w/ 17's will have the benefit of going 275's (and have almost no rubbing from what I recall).

fyi you can run 285's on your stock tires (for 17's) but for 16" wheels I don't recommend it (though I've seem MANY do this with no ill effect).

Just tried these on my 2008. They will rub the upper control arm at full turn. Back off 1/4 turn and all ok. The rub point is smooth metal so more than likely no major damage, probably lots of noise. So just avoid full turn if you really want them. Move the forward inter plastic a little more forward, very easy. 3 screws at the bottom. All else clears. However, they really make the car look like a truck!! I didn't like the look. I have some pics.

I backed out and switched to GYWrangler SA 275/70R17. These work great w/o any lift. No rub. Gained an inch ground clearance.
These look a lot better on this car, for me!!

BFG AT KO does come in 275/70/16 Load Range D. It's not an easy size to find, but most dealers can order them. The problem is that it's not that bigger than stock size.

Am I seeing things? Are those 285's on stock 16' rims? I thought you couldn't do that w/o getting 16x8 rims. I am totally sold if you can wrap the 285/75/16 on a stock rim.
