Hi all looking at my ome setup in my sig, do you guys think with 1.25-1.5inch spacers i can comfotably fit 285's without having to trim. I realize this has been repeated many a time but I dont have stock bumpers so it gives me more clearance? I have noticed that most people will have a body lift but I have the OME setup with heavy load springs and it gave me full 4inches of lift. I no it will eventually settle back down to 3inches or so

buying wheel spacers and pushing your wheels out will give you a greater chance of rubbing issues. -the tires will turn in a greater "arc" and rub on your bumper and valance, along with the rear of your fender... try it without the wheel spacers first, i bet you will be able to fit them just fine. -i ran 285 stock for almost two years before i lifted my rig

With Limited flairs and wheel spacers I rubbed with 285 Duratracs. Heck I rub in the rear even after a 1" body lift. different rear bumper fixes this issue :)

Like the kid said, try it and see.....

I didn't have to trim much to get it all working...check out my build thread for pics of the rubbing and the trimming.

Lift or no lift, tires will rub in the same spots, just more often without a lift. With 285s, you will be doing some cutting and pounding. It'll probably be minor.

I may just go with 265's treadwright guard dogs as they are actually a really tall 32.2 inches... I do have aftermarket bumpers if you look at my sig, cbi rear plate, 4xinnovations front

So you dont always need wheel spacers to get 285's to fit... Would grinding down the upper control arm help?? would prefer to do that as opposed to deal with spacers! I was curious if anyone has any pics of what 285's would look like on 5stars with out spacers

Do not grind down the UCA... lol

I'd much rather deal with some spacers than grind down the UCA. Just go buy some 1/4" universal spacers from auto zone for $17 and you should be fine. If not, get some 1.25 spidertrax, but I doubt it. I've run 285's on my last two 4runners on the 5 stars and never had any rubbing issues on the UCA. That was with Pro comp extreme mud terrains and pro comp x terrains and no wheel spacers. But hey, every truck is different. Just get em mounted and go from there.

You will need to cut the uca's AND weld in some good steel for the mag wheels, not sure about 5 star, if you know somebody who welds, knows metals and has experience doing offroad fab work see if they can help... Here's what i just had to do, wheel spacers are dangerous in my experience, and tires rub bad http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/133822-285-75-16-stock-rims-no-spacers.html

Btw, would extending the uca past the ball joint mount make it stronger?, .... No, it's strength is between the ball joint mount and the frame mounts, but a cut uca unfinished would leave the ball joint mount a flexible spot and weaken it to the point of possibly bending. If its more solid than the factory, that's good in my book.

Desert36- DO you know the exact dimensions i would need to cut off the uca? isnt there a company that does this??

No, I did each side to fit, it was about an inch total??, I just kept taking off little by little till there was clearance, then the plates were both slightly different shapes but they fit into each gap good. The factory arm welds didn't seem identical either. I wasn't about to pay a lot of money for something I could do in a few hours.. If your going to blow dough on uca's, get the tubular ones that have more ball joint angle...
