285s on stock TE RIMS

has anyone run 285s on the stock trail edition rims? The one tires aren't great off-road at all. I'm not planning to lift but I've seen 285s run with wider rims. Will it work in the TE Rims without too much drama. My TE needs better tires.

Thanks for asking this question. I'm just about to swap my spare 285 that's currently on a steel rim onto my stock TE rim. If you look at [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] tire fitment guide, it does indicate its possible but right at the limit.

My 275s rub sometimes. Can't see running 285s without some sort of lift.

There are plenty of "better" tires available in the factory 265/70 size. It's what I'm still running even after a 2" lift. If you want taller and wider that's fine too. But don't just write off all 265/70-17 tires just because you don't like what came OEM.

I'm not writing it off. I just want something meatier. 265s to me look really skinny. My sister runs 275s on her limited in 20s. Looks much better to me but even that looks like 285 will fit easy.

Does your sister have a lift? I'm sure you can fit 285 without a lift but driving it is another story.

I ran 285 on stock te wheels with and without a lift. Drives fine only rub was at full lock and it wasn't much. Even off roading there wasn't rub.

Yes you can run 285s without a lift. You will probably have to do the fender liner mod. Search the forum for instructions. You may also have to trim some plastic.

My sisters truck is
Totally stock. 275s in 20" have tons of room left

I know there are two guys here running 285s 18" no lift
Magnetic4r and another guy. The two guys running volk racingwheels.
I may end up getting the anza true bead locks for it.
