285s w/ bilstein 5100s upfront. Will it rub?

Would like to add the BFG KM2's 285/70/17s on stock trail wheels to my TE. If i add the bilstein 2 inch lift upfront and remove the front mud flaps will i be all set? will it rub? Will the rear with stock height rub?

I don't want a huge lift. but the km2's looks so hot. see attached members ride with full lift. Just not looking for that extreme height. though does look awesome. It is my daily driver.

other option is i can get stock size 265/70/17s... but not sure thats cool enough. ha.

I think with just the 2in lift up front you are going to rub alot. I was rubbing with a 265 70 17 on a 17x8 with a 4.5 backspacing with a leveling kit. Do a search for member snooperstyle he did 275/70/17s looks real good just another idea

You may want to try tall & skinny (255/80/17 KM2's).

Not sure if they will fit for sure with a 1.75" lift (Or did you select the 2.5" setting?), but check with the 4th gen owners as well as Tacomaworld to see if anyone is running those after getting leveled with Bilstein 5100's.

my advice: rethink what you're going for exactly. why 285s in stock form? 265s fill the wheel-wells just fine, plus there's no performance ding, speedo/odo offset, or reduced wheel travel due to larger tire diameter (without a lift).

i'd get the 265s; or a lift + the 285s. my bet is that if you go with the bilsteins and 285s you're just going to find yourself spending more money on a real lift soon enough anyway. just my 2¢.

Yes you might be right. Maybe 265s with very aggressive tread like the KM2s will look cool with bilstein leveling upfront.

fwiw, i don't have a lift (or level) and people ask me about my 265 Duratracs all the time; no one believes they're stock size!

I am running 285's on stock suspension and wheels. Played with inner fender liners a little bit to get just a bit more clearance but I have absolutly no rubbing. I will admit I have not done too much "extreme" articulation but I have gone offroad a bit and have not noticed any rubbing there either.

Ben, thanks! Do you have any pics? would like to see 285s on stock TE. Did you have to adjust rear fender liners too?

I think they look great myself! Anyway, no I did not touch anything in back at all.

The fender liner up front can be "adjusted" in about 2min to give another inch or two of clearance up front. I did that and no rubbing since. I think we are really only talking about another inch or so in diameter and a hair wider over stock.

Other people have put 285's on stock TE's here too. I did a couple searches and read other peoples experiences.

So far so good, maybe a slight hit in mpg but the ride and road noise with the Revo's are much much better then the stock tires.

I believe member egstyle has 265/70/17 BFG KM2's on his. Those tires with a leveling kit would look good but be warned once you level it you will eventually end up wanting a lift lol I originally leveled mine and did 265 70 17 terra grapplers then after about 2 months I decided that a lift was in order along with 285s I personally think 285s look stuffed under the 4runner without a lift but to each is his own.
