2nd gen 93 4x4 faulty tranny - need help

I have a 93 4x4 v6 auto tranny. I bought a month ago. Now the tranny won't shift in reverse. I already changed the fluid. It was dark. Forward shifting is acceptable. However no reverse shifting. Neutral works okay. Every time I want to take this truck for a spin I have to push it out of driveway. Any suggestions?

By the way the truck has 179k miles on it (pretty sure it's original) and I'm planning to do a budget off road improvements after fixing this problem.

Welcome! And did you drop the pan when you changed the fluid? I know on several autos from this era not sure about this one but when the od goes out you lose reverse. If you haven't dropped the pan I would and change the filter and/or see if there's a bunch of metal. Good luck

If I find bunch of metal, what will that mean!? Ground gears!? or something else? I hope it doesn't mean ground gears which means to rebuilt the transmission.

I will drop the pan as soon as I can.
