2nd Gen Automatic Shifter Indicator

Hey guys, I'm asking for my uncle who will probably be buying a 94 4Runner, and I know he's gonna ask for help about this.

Anyway, the automatic shifter indicator isn't there, the red marker that shows whether you're in P, R, N, D, ect. Is there a quick way to fix this? For what it's worth, the slider cover is missing as well.

im nowhere near an expert but common sense tells me if the little plastic slider protector is missing then its probably been worked on regaurding the tranny, my buddies samurai would get stuck in reverse and he had to take that little cover off and take a screwdriver down into it to get it out of reverse. maybe something to look into.
