well if you drive around in 4wd all the time that will definalty decrease your mileage. i noticed a 2-3 mpg drop in my 4runner. i dont have the v6 so i cant really help all that much. check your air filter and what not. also try running a complete fuel system clear through the engine. i've always noticed an increase when i run one of those through.
wow that sucks, thats a huge drop. with my 22re i only notice a 3-4 mpg drop. 5 at worst. i guess it all depends on your driving style too. I'll admit it i can be too aggressive on the road, hard accelerations and what not, and i do notice an decrease in fuel mileage.toy4 said:

V6, automatic, with 4WD,
In the summer driving highway miles and usually one trip wheeling per tank I can get 21MPG. In the winter with temperatures being down to 20 below zero, plus driving around town more with lots of cold starts I get around 13-15MPG.

Im getting horrible mileage!
Any ideas why I'm getting such mad gas mileage???
Currently I'm getting only a little over 10 mph or 190 per tank.
1992 FourRunner 6 cylinder
I hardly ever use the four wheel drive.
My tires are aired up and I just replaced the oxygen sensor.
Help please!

i get about 450km on a full tank (about 280 miles) 14-15 l / 100km, so about 16mpg (US). thats city driving, when i mix up 4x4 and country driving i get about 15l/100
but i'm in desperate need of a wheel alignment after getting airborne on some dunes
oh yeah, i have a 92 5spd V6

I just calculated mine recently, and with a V6 5sp I get something like 14-16, but this was a lot of highway going average of about 80 mph. Keep in mind altitude effects gas mileage. I bet if I did it again with my current tank this weekend when I go up to the local ski resort at 9,000 ft, from my home altitude of 5,360, my mileage will be less, probably 10-12. But all the climbing will be against me in addition to altitude...

1994 v6 auto - 30 inch tires
230 miles per tank of 87 octane - driving at 65 mph with vehicle in perfect tune.
I am telling you folks there is something goofy with CA models....they are geared differently to keep the revs up.
my 90 with 31 inch tires gets 280 -300 on a tank - just like the Yota Buck said.

man this is a friggin joke i cant even get 300KM per tank out of my 92 4runner 22re!, what the heck is going on, it pulls like a dog too, any of you guys have a change in speed when you encounter wind lol, i do. on highways i find it imposible to keep the needle of 100km (60mph) unless i am driving in 4th all the time, when i hit 5th i better be doing at least 65mph and not be going uphill. I am pulling 31" tires which is a bit for a 22re i am guessing with stock gearing but hey, should it be this bad? I have replaced all sparks, wires, cap n rotor, rplaced head gasket, go a head kit put in by a pro, i also replaced my timing chain and gears. Am also running without a cat! And i am alsways a 2wd. Whats the average miles or kilos you can get out of a 22re per tank? I do have a bit of a heavy foot but hey, its soo slo lol.
