2nd Gen seats. Need options and opinions

My drivers side seat has the typical "slide butt wear" on the left side. The fabric is torn and worn, but the foam seems pretty much intact. I'm considering just re-upholstering the seat myself. I own a pretty decent sowing machine and have access to fabric. I figure I can just use a seam ripper and trace out the original patterns. Is it worth it? Am I crazy? Should I just replace the entire seat? How hard is it to install aftermarket seats? I know I'm shoveling the questions on, but I'm just looking for some general input. It is tan leather interior and I do know that I will not be going with leather again. My bum plus really hot or really cold leather seats does not mix well.

my seat does the same thing of course.... but every other one I've looked at is worse.

you could probably do that, just depends on how good you are at it. if all else fails, find a local guy or spend the couple hundred bucks on a custom katzkins or wet okole one or something. (whole set).

I would if it weren't $800. but they're actual covers that replace the old ones.

Not to mention, seat covers slide all over leather like crazy. Had that problem with my 03 bonneville. I'd rather spend $800 bucks on a bumper! ound:
