Brand new to the site and new to the world of Toyota. I just picked up my first 4runner 2 weeks ago. Still needs lots of work, but I love it Its a 93 Limited, but sadly thats all I know about it. I need to learn more still lol

I've only been a member for about a month, but I promise you if you do enough digging around you'll find out just about everything you'd ever want to know regarding your new toy.

I've always loved the front end look of the 2nd gens. Can't wait until summer so I can sit down and plan out how to give my 3rd gen a 2nd gen partial facelift.

Nighthawk: yea, the guy that sold it to me thought it was funny when i questioned him about it. I am not surprised with all the tidbits he added to the car. I will fix that as soon as Toyota looks at my tranny.

It's a b*tch to get into any gear and it started to happen 2 weeks after i bought it. My luck.

Just bought my first toyota ever!!! I think I made a good choice, it's a 95 has a fresh 3.0 v6 that was completely rebuilt from all new parts internals and all, a freshly rebuilt tranny. The interior is clean and there is no rust at all!!! Only thing is, I don't know how much lift is on it.... Can anyone tell by the pics??

If it's clearing 33's I'd say probably 3 or 4 inches, looks like there is some daylight coming in above the chassis so maybe an inch or two body lift and a couple in the springs, hard to tell from a pic.

This is 4 - 5 inches and the second is 6. It's the same set of wheels tyres on both. I should have taken some pics of them parked side by side while I still had the first one.

i think if its clearing 33's, and doesnt have the rear lower control are drop brackets i dont think it has a 4 inch. it might have a 2 inch BL and Ball joint spacers. thats my guess

You're probably right about the rod, but I had 5 inches on the rear of one truck with a standard panhard rod and no drop bracket. The off set to the one side was hardly noticable and then only if you knew and were looking for it. Currently running an adjustable rod on 6 inches, but happily ran without on 5.

Thanks for all the info! The reason I was asking is; in MD if the vehicle has more than 4" of lift it won't pass the initial inspection required to get tags. I was trying to find a stock one to compare it too, but older 4runners are scarce around here. :/ Thanks again for the help!! Makes me feel a little better about taking it in for the inspection.

There are, because you only have to get the vehicle inspected when you tag it(that's why they're so strict.) or if a traffic officer tickets you for something not working, or being unsafe on the vehicle, the cops are pretty lax about such things though. After that it's only Emissions testing every 2 years. Which is in no means, all that bad.

here is bennie my 91. um stock I assume.. auto SR5 everything works but speedo..ha ha..it was free traded one of my jeeps for it..I got the better deal cause the 4x4 doesnt work in the YJ ha ha nor did the heater... havent decided if I am gonna keep it and put a little money making it tougher looking or ditch it for another jeep... we shall see.. are yota fans as rabid as jeep fans? :nicethread: oh yeah how big of a tire with this thing clear and I think the rear sags what do you do or point me in the right direction...

nice. keep it, dont get another heep. and about the whole jeep thing bs... we dont wave when we see another 4runner or really have any sayings. you might here "its a jeep thing, thats why i bought a toyota" jeep guys are really different. at least in my experiance.

if you fix the sagging rear springs you can get 32's on there, or do a bj spacer up front and taller springs in rear for 33's. or BL 2'' for 33's. or combine and go 35's. or you can sas and do whatever the hell your pocket can afford. id love to pick up a 2nd gen one day.

thank you.. I prolly will keep it.. its paid for.. gonna do a little cosmetic stuff on it to give it a "tougher" look. yeah I need to take it to a suspension place for the sag. not feeling it.. when the tires wear out I will get bigger. I had 31's on my YJ jeep and I have #& on my CJ. and my thing is 4x4 not just jeep

boy that's a pretty 4runner ya got there toshpaste!!!! Now I have noticed from what I have seen that yota fans aren't as rabid as the Chevy vs. Ford Fans ( I'm a die hard Ford guy).... so they may not be as rabid as the jeep vs anything that is 4x4 fans. :fro:
