Just purchased a 2008 v6 4wd from a Toyota dealer. It's a one owner vehicle, but the owner didn't have it serviced by the dealer. He lived about an hour away from any dealer, so I'm not surprised by that. There is a log of oil and filter changes written into the back of the owners' manual, so it looks like he kept up with those. There are no records of any maintenance other than warranty work on Toyota's website.
I've exercised the 4high and low. I had the dealer put it on a lift and I took a good look at the frame, looked for signs of leaks, etc. All good there.
So the question is this - is there any specific maint I should do just in case he didn't? Maybe radiator flush, trans fluid? Diffs? Or should I just check those fluids by eye/smell/using some tool or other approach? I figure maybe I'll just align w/ the maint schedule and have the dealer do it the first few times to ensure that it's done by the book. Other than that, I usually do a lot of maint by myself.
I've read the FAQs and stickies here, looking for some opinions for the things that are obvious to people more familiar w/ the 4Runner.
