After hitting the hard trails all day, I break on the super smooth camp ground road. Go figure.

Transmission... again but in the rear this time. Still the housing is trashed. This time the atlas hit the tunnel and bound up the tail housing making it crack. At least i got a full day of wheeling this time.

Have to rebuild the transmission again... but all I have to do is lower the transfercase about 1/2" and everything should be good.

Man that just looks painful. Hope you have her trail ready again soon.

:lookout:

Soon enough ill be rebuilding transmissions in my sleep. Just need to hunt another case down now.

So is this rig going to be able to go wheeling without breaking stuff soon or do you expect each wheeling trip to cost you a tank of gas and a transmission?

How much tq do you think your motor is putting out?

Nate, you sure are going out of your way to make me feel glad that I kept my engine stock (LOL)! Ouch! I'm getting the impression that you wheel a bit harder than I do. Hope you get'r back together soon, bro--and find the cure to keeping it together.

Okay, I've seen guys that had to truss their axles, but I think you need to truss your transmissions.

And get a freakin bumper, would you? :D

Yea yea yea, I know the fix for this. I do Need bumpers so why don't you come out and build them.

Irok, I hit a bunch of stuff, I think the t-case doesn't have enough room to move in the tunnel. I guess something has to give.

This is Trail 5, an intermediate trail, towards the end we start up Trail 7, a hard trail.

I believe this is the reason I snapped the case this time.

In this picture its hard to tell but it is hitting the shifter housing (blurry shiny spot in the center).

I believe when it is under load and i hit a good bump it contacts.

That's a fine Whirlpool 4Runner you have there--maybe the tranny broke on the final spin cycle? Nate, your rig's so darned tall, we can't see the trail over your hood! Maybe mount the camera up around the visor next time, so we can see what you're about to crush with that beast. I can hardly wait till my next run--my brother keeps bugging me to get some videos with his new GoPro2. The only problem is tree limbs--our trails have a lot of them, and I'm afraid I'll forget about the camera and strip it right off the truck!
