2wd to 4wd

^ yup. If you're planning to SAS anyway, the addition of a tcase and driveshaft is not such a big deal, but the effort involved in adding a factory 4WD setup to a 2WD truck isn't worth it. Just sell yours and buy a 4WD.

I have a 4wd Tundra so the 4Runner is just an extra vehicle. I thought it might be nice to add 4wd but it isn't a must.

I think TOY2G had two 4th gens that he did, not sure on the specifics. I converted my 3rd gen because I had too much sentimental attachment.

Thousands. The center diff alone is more than $1000 and you would need a wiring harness as well, plus the front diff.

I think the guy here who did it said it would be around $10k for the conversion, not counting his time and effort.

EDIT: Actually I think that was for a SAS, I think for the straight 4x2 to 4x4 conversion it was at least $6k though, and again this was with him doing the majority of work on his own (and I'll bet there's at least $3000 worth of labor involved.)
