3" Kit + 285s

Seems like 285's w/ 3" Kit is the norm on here and I really like the additional height clearance and stance.

While doing some research, the 285's will add roughly 0.75" of vehicle height going from 265 to 285 since outside diameters are 31.5" (265) and 33" (285). With the 3" Toytec Boss Lift or other, that should bring the 4Runner height to 71.5" (stock height) + 3" + 0.75" = 75.25" (6'-3.25").

Can anyone confirm if this is correct? I've posted a similar question asking about vehicle height because before I can install the lift and tires, I need to make sure i can fit into my parking structure which has a height clearance limit of 6'-5".

you can add the same lift and tires to two different vehicles and get different measurements.... add 4" t stock and you will be in the ball park. also remember not all 285s are the same size

Thanks Stif. What do you mean 2 diff measurements? You mean the 71.5" height (w/ factory rails) vs. 70.4" (w/o) rails?

And I've been told that the BGF AT 285's are slightly smaller in diameter than say a GY duratrac which may help a little.

edited my post... now in English lol. Yes bfgs are notoriously smaller than other brands. What I am saying is if you and I have the same vehicle configuration and we buy the same lift and tires it doesn't mean they are going to measure exactly the same. Every vehicle is different.

I have a 3/2 lift with 285/70/17's Cooper AT3's and a drabbits roof rack. I am sitting at 78.5" to the top of the roof rack. If I measure to the top of the shark fin and I am 76.5" to the top of the fin. Not sure how much the stock rack sticks up over the fin. You could always do the roof rack delete kit if needed. It's pretty inexpensive and there is a sticky thread with the info on how to do it.

I had to take these measurements and tell my wife if it is shorter than 6'10" or 82" then don't park in there. Not worth the risk. Especially if they put a speed bump or something on one of the ramps in the parking garage. That could ruin your day in a hurry.
