3" lift

So I already have a 2.5-3" spacer lift with rear coils. But theres a problem my Xreas are goin out on me.

I'm going to take out that crappy system that toyota put in my car :bash: and want to go with bilstein 5100's.

* but the thing is I want to know I could run my 5100 with my spacer lift if i set it to 1.75.

I would not advise going any higher than 3" lift. Your handling will suffer (unless you buy aftermarket upper control arms) and there will be increased wear on the front end components.

If you do not off road a lot, you can look at the FJ swap. There's a full set of practically new FJ shocks/coils listed in the classifieds here for $200. Excellent deal. Ride quality will be similar (or probably slightly better) than 5100's and stock 4runnner coils. The downside is that the 5100's are longer and will allow for more flex off road.
 
Okay thanks bud! But if I go with 5100's or with the FJ setup and took my spacer out. How much lift would it be running me.
 
The 5100s give up to 2.5". The FJ coils give up to 1". Neither alone will give you what you're wanting. maybe do the 5100s and fj coils or add a small spacer for the full 3".
 
Have you considered going with OME springs and 5100s? I'm assuming the FJ Springs were primirly mentioned due to cheaper costs but a good used set of OME 884/885 can be had for a little more. With a V6, the 885 and 5100s set at stock/0" lift should put you around ~3" without the spacer, probably more like 2.75".

For comparison, I'm running the 5100s set at .75" with 884s for a total of 4" lift. It initially had me at 4.5" but it has since settled. This lift amount is generally not advised to be on the safe side but I've put 10,000 miles on mine with no apparent issues. I am still running stock UCAs and was able to achieve a decent alignment. However, I knew what I was getting into with this amount of lift and am prepared to replace my bearings/cvs if needed.

@chrimsoncountry 3.5-4 is exactly what im looking for. & it's nice to know I can get away with my stock UCA's for a bit too. I believe ima go with your exact set up if you don't mind, it looks beast. Appreciate it! and when you get the chance could you measure to your front finder and let me know it's height.

Thanks! My front fender to ground is 38" and the rear is 39" with 265/70s (+~.5 with 285s). The first alignment I did after my lift at 4.5" was horrible. Caster was way off at around 1.0. However, after it has settled a little, they were able to get 3.0 Caster while keeping Camber and Toe within spec. I'm still a little skeptical as these numbers seemed way to good to be true with my lift and factory UCAs. The truck drives great so I'll just accept it for now.

I will warn you that, with my exact setup, the truck will be a lot firmer/stiffer. This is good for some...not so good for others. I have nearly zero body roll around corners. I will admit I sometimes miss some plushness over really bumpy roads at lower speeds as you can really feel the road. Its not horrible, just different from OEM ride. I may upgrade to actual C/Os down the road or at least the Toytec 5100 C/O kit. You may want to check them out as most end up going that route anyway

Also, I was initially surprised at the total lift as I was expecting only 3.25-3.5" max. I attribute this to me misjudging the actual compressed lift of the 884s @ the .75" setting vs OEM springs, which I assume is what Bilstein uses to estimate lift amounts....who knows. Either way, you should end up around the same.

There's no set line that defines what's safe and what isn't. As long as you have the understanding crimson has and are willing to replace some parts prematurely, you'll be fine.The 3" recommendation is the max you can safely go with little to no increased wear. How fast parts will wear with more lift is unknown.
