My truck just turned 30k so I changed the oil and filter for MY first time. The oil changes at 10k and 20k were done by my selling dealer as part of the 2 year/20k factory service plan. Well, I'd bet my life that that was the first time that filter has EVER been off! The 10mm/12mm bolts holding the plastic shield and skid plate had no marks that a socket has ever been on them. Same with the oil filter housing (which even had a little build up in the bottom that took some extra brake cleaner and wiping to get out). I could be wrong but I'd say they've just been dumping the oil and refilling it the last two times (hoping they did at least that!). No names because I have no proof, but as a former Toyota Service Manager for 14 years I'd like to think I know a little of what I'm talking about. Just sad. Well, you know the old adage. If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.
