Just hit 350K miles and thought I would have a look under the valve cover during an oil change. Looks pretty clean to me. Oil changes every 5K. Just thought I'd share.
What kind of oil are you using?
Looks nice. Maybe it is the extra long Wix filter.
Is that an external filtration system on top of the passenger side wheel well?
Are you still on the stock timing chains?
Yes stock chains. Only thing I had to replace because of failure was the front driver side axle. It got taken out when my wheel bearing went out on the highway going 70mph. This had been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.
Thanks for taking the time to pull the valve cover and take a pic. Absolutely no sign of sludge and considering you ran Walmart Supertech for 200k miles, it just shows that regular oil change intervals will prevent sludge better than the specific oil used.
What are the tubes going into that Napa filter looking thing on the left corner?
Couple pics of the pcv catch can special. What can I say it works lol. Catch about 4-6oz of oil every 5K.
Oil mist. Normally it goes into the intake to be burned.Explain this to me. Why do you catch it and where does it go if you don't catch it?
