3D print center console bezel?

Anyone with a 3D printer ever think about reproducing these with a "made to order radio opening"

I put the T1819 radio in my 97 and have yet got around to trimming the plastic so it fits.

That sounds kinda cool. I for one would not really miss an armrest as they generally annoy me. The work vehicle I drive almost makes you put your arm on the stupid armrest. I have noticed in the past few weeks that I have symptoms of tendentious and it becomes uncomfortable to rest my arm on vehicle armrest. If I could, I would swap it out with something like you are describing. I see it looking a bit like an aircraft cockpit with the radio mounted within reach and perhaps a lock box for the rest of the area... as long as we are redesigning things. lol.

Sketch it out! I am sure there are some high speed people here that could make it happen. I have no idea how much it costs to 3D print items like that, but I would be interested.:snacker:

This would only work in Limiteds as the AC controls are electronic. Everything else is manual and can't be moved without significant modification. You'd still have to modify the inside of the dashboard too, because there's a cavity for the back of the radio to fit into that isn't anywhere else.

Edit: and then I read the OP more thoroughly, but Tapatalk won't let me delete this.
So good idea :)

Well I think the idea is clear now. Ha.

Honestly though, if someone started 3D printing radio/AC bezels, they should also make standard ones. A expensive piece of plastic that will only get rarer and more expensive as 3rd gen start dying out...my junkyard has them for $30, but I've seen them go for $120 before. And that's still a 15+YO piece of plastic that's brittle from age.
