3d printed grab handles drivers side

I'm looking into having some 3d printed a-pillars with grab handles bolt on, pretty much like you would expect it to look. It will probably be printed in ABS at a local 3d printing shop since ether have the best equipment.

Does anyone know what color the finish is on the current A-pillar and how to mimick it?
Also I am curious if there are any concerns with what the handle is made with on the inside. It can't be just plastic right? Or else it would break easier, which is my next concer wether abs will cut it.

Side note, does anyone in SoCal have a 3d printed? :D

Unfortunately for any regular thread based 3d printer, the handle would likely not be anywhere near strong enough for that kind of use. Especially where it bolts to the frame.

I believe that someone here has bought an available drivers side handle (From a tundra?) and installed it on a 5th gen... Try out your search-fu on "5th gen drivers side grab handle" and variations and see if there is a more solid solution first.

Thanks warthog. Iv seen posts about the tundra, but it was my understanding that it was for the tundra and not the 4Runner. If I am mistaken it will be a classic lmgtfy.com moment

What about the "A" Pillar air bag function with this mod?

Here is the best image I could find on the site...

I think it may be possible but you would have to take on the experiment yourself.

Would need to find a LHS grab handle from a Prado or a Lexus GX maybe, or an older 4r model or something that matched the right side. In fact, looking at mine, the handle looks symmetrical. Might just get another RHS one and flip it over for use on the LHS.

Would have to modify your A pillar or get a new one along with the handle.

Would need to see if there was a second (lower) mounting hole or possibly mode/add one if not. And all the while being really careful to not interfere with the side air bag.

Again, it seems plausible, but will take a bit of your own research to find parts and determine mounting location for the lower bolt on the handle...

This is relevant to my interests. That is the only disappointment that I found when I went from a 13 Taco to 14 T4R.

Grab Handle

OK, flame me for not understanding but if it`s on the driver`s side, use the big round one that is already there.
