A few people are. T4r4life, and spenwrds (not sure on the spelling) are running that combo and like the ride. The only reason to go with the other coils is because they are adjustable. You don't have to run them with 5100's though. The Eibachs and 5100's is somewhat adjustable, but only one setting and come out to 3" on the lowest setting. The adjustable kit will allow you to dial in the height you want. If you have the cash go for those, but they are both great options.

I have the Eibach's with the adjustable Bilsteins. No complaints at all. Took them to a shop, paid $20 to assemble and they went right in no problem. Just installed them this wknd so only driven around neighborhood but I say go for it.
 
anybody have pics of there rig with a toytec ultimate lift? would it be best to get new UCA's? and if i plan to get a shrockworks bumper should i wait till i have the money for lift bumper so i don't have the med coils with a off road bumper?

You're kidding right? There are 50+ guys running the toytec ultimate lift.Search it a little bit.
 
I want to lift my 4runner already!! I have been reading and researching for way too long now and just want to get it done!
My 4runner has been in my family for almost 10 years its a 2000 Sport 4x4 with a 5speed and I love it!
After a few months of reading still dont feel confident in the decision I am making. There is a lot of contradictory info out there. I will be doing 90% street driving but want a suspension lift and not spacers (I come from a sports car background and spacers just seem wrong to me).
I am thinking of going toytech springs in the front with 5100's I decided to go with toytech springs and not trd's because of the sag issues I have heard of with the trds and I want to have a level lift when all is said and done. Because I dont want to compromise my on road handeling (I drive the hell out of my 4runner and its road holding is one of my favorite things about it) I thought a softer spring in the rear would be best. So I am looking at 890's in the rear and I am having trouble deciding on what shocks to use with them. I saw the post I quoted below and FJ Shocks seem like what I am looking for and at a very reasonable price!

Are you talking about the stock shocks? What are the Make/Part numbers?
Does anyone know if these are the same as the trd tacoma rear shocks?

I am looking for some reassurance from you experts that what I listed above is a decent lift and will give me a good on road ride (or a better one than the fj80 and trd combo would). Even though I have read many threads on t4r I know there is a lot of info out there that I still havent come across so if anyone has a good link to info about this type of lift please send it my way.

This 4runner community is truly priceless and thank you all for all the help and useful information shared here on this site!
 
I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that FJ80 7.5 springs will ride "softer" than 890's and give you the same height. As far as rear shocks, if money is no hindrance go with the Bilstein 5150's from Toytec. You can save $100 and give a little bit on the ride(probably not noticable) and go with Bilstein 5100. I have never heard anyone say bad things about them. I run Takico Trekmasters in the rear and like them alot. You can get a set including shipping for $110-125.

As far as the front going I think you are spot on. Just make sure that you include the differential drop kit in your lift to take stress off your CV's. You dont have to run a panhard drop bracket or extended panhard bar(or here), but if you do it will put your trucks stock geometry back closer to where it is now. If ride quality is a major issue to you that is something to consider. Hope that helps. Good luck and good job researching before asking questions.
 
Thanks for the help Josh! I am definitely going to do the diff drop and am hoping to get a local shop to fab an adjustable panhard for cheap.
The Takico Trekmasters that you have, are they for the 4runner? or for a land cruiser or tundra... I never understood what rear shocks people are using.

About the lc coils, I as long as I get the 3 inches I will be happy but what if the set I get has sagged? could I tell if they have sagged by comparing the measurements to those at the begging of this thread? would that be accurate?
 
Quick question.

Just wondering how high up you should go on the adjustable front coil overs. I have the toytec adj coil overs and just put some 9 wraps in the back. It does have a bit of a rake but I am going to add weight. (tire carrier)

If there is still a good rake I am going to adj the front a bit. Right now they are in stock position. Middle ways up the shock.

How high is to high? want it to be safe, not break a million cv axles, but still function good.
 
Not sure yet. TRD (yy/yb) or Eibach. Probably Eibach.

For the rear, stuck between 906/5100 and 890/5100. I really only want 2" of lift. I'm thinking 906 at this point, because I have 1.5" daystar spacers I can slip in if it's not enough lift.

I think as of now I am looking at the Eibach's for the front and 7.5 coil fj80 springs for the rear. I was originally very concerned about sagging springs being as they are coming off a 20 year old vehicle! And was leaning toward the 890's
But I decided to give the FJ80 coils a try figure its less than half the price of the OME springs. And from what I gathered ride quality is very good with them.

You are going to have 3in of lift up front with the Eibachs I dont think you would want less than that in the back?
 
I was figuring on using the lowest spring perch on the 5100's. Maybe I'll have to use the TRD coils. I'd buy 'em new, though. I want 1.5" lift in the front, and ~2" lift in the back, with as good on-road manners as possible.
 
Yeah I also only wanted 1.5-2in in the beginning but the lift bug got the better of me... I am still concerned about the road handling quality after the lift as I live in hills with windy mountain roads and currently drive spiritedly through them. Best of luck with the lift I hope it all goes smoothly for you
 
I hope they are!! According to the part number they should be 5100's. The seller said in the ad that the surface is machined aluminum. I think he is sold out but good luck finding your set.
 
Trd or camburg??

Thanks for the search information Brian; it should be a sticky!

Okay so I ordered some 5100's came a across some 7.5 wrap FJ80 coils locally and felt like I was getting a great lift, (I am still looking for trd coils)

BUT THEN...
I came across some Camburg (sway-a-way) CRS 2.5in coil overs for almost the same price as the 5100's and TRD coils. They are not new and the seller says they have about 20,000 miles on them.

What should I do??
I have been searching on google and have not really found any good information on how this set up rides or how reliable it is I know a few people here are running them on their 4runners.
Once again this is my DD and I dont do much 4wheeling, YET....
