Looking for a bumper that is decently affordable for a high school student making 8.75 an hour. If you have one or any good deals on websites let me know. Im from NC btw
What's the purpose? For a winch for just high clearance? :noidea:

They just seem to make them far too expensive, it means they're of great quality from what I've seen and heard but, it makes it so poor people (like me and you) simply can't afford them. Just wait until you're in college like me, finding the funds is even more exciting.
For the higher clearance and I like the looks

If you have access to a welder, DIY kits are the way to go.

The beer part was a joke (I personally didn't drink in high school either). The point is that you should have a bit of $$$ saved up for when you head out into the real world. Whether that money is used for a deposit on an apartment or a repair on the car, avoiding putting unexpected expenses on a credit card will keep you on the happy side of compounding interest. The more you can do that now, the more toys you get to have in the future!

PS. If you don't have fabricating skills, an ARB is probably the least expensive plate bumper. Tube bumpers are generally cheaper, but (often) don't look as nice. Or you can modify a '96-'98 bumper for plenty of clearance...

totally get this man...my dad isn't too keen on not working to build a bumper for my truck with me, or help me weld on my sliders lol. always likes to say he's "the most expensive welder out there"

do you have any threads where this has been done? possibly something i'd be interested in. maybe i could find a chrome one, always liked the look of those compared to my color matched limited one.

I’ve been looking at the ARB for my 97’ limited, but it is a little spendy and the instal videos I have found for them have all been on the “fat lip” 3rd gens. How the stock from bumper attaches to frame looks completely different on mine which is why I’m having second thoughts. Let me know if you find anything!

Take some classes. Check your local community college, maybe your school still has some? A class in fabrication may not be the fastest way but it might help you for years to come. They will have all the equipment you need and you already have the project.

The best advice here, and the bit about taking a fab class.
Or just be patient and wait for a 100-200 deal to come along. Set up some alerts on Craigslist and check OfferUp every couple of days. You'd be surprised what comes along if you're diligent about checking.
