3rd gen brakes input needed.

As Talltoys said, the 199mm should fit but with those rims I don't believe the 231mm will.

That being said, either is a significant upgrade. The 231mm brakes have a slightly mushier pedal - I assume it's due to the larger caliper size for the same size brake cylinder - but we're talking maybe an extra half inch...and when they catch, GOOD LORD do they catch. I actually tested stopping power at a known location nearby.

With the completely stock brakes, I'd actually shoot past the road about 20 feet or so, with my foot just short of floored on the brake pedal.

With the 231mm upgrade, I now stop WELL short of the road.

right, best upgrade i've ever done, my buddy from the uk was driving my truck last week and has only ever driven sports cars and commuters never a lifted truck with 285's on it, he commented on how the beast stopped just as well as his raced out focus in the UK, it's nice to know now the only limting factor in my braking performance now is actually the traction at the tires as opposed to the grip on the rotor....personally i don't notice this mushy pedal thing everyone talks about, i used the mighty vac on my lines and pumped them up to the 13~14 psi and they feel just as good as ever imo, but that could just be speculation, due to the fact that before the upgrade i would have to push the pedal down 25% to even start getting any grip on the rotor and start to slow, so if the pedal is mushy at this point i wouldn't know it, it feels 100x's better than before and is much more responsive, so i call it a massive win even if people are calling the pedal mushy.

+1 on thermo quiets good pad for the money.

New Break Pads

Instead of making new thread, decided to wake up old one.

I need to buy new front brake pads for my 2000 tr4. In this thread, member praised Wagner ThermoQuiet. So, I am thinking of buying them from amazon.

Any suggestion or input on better alternative.

Should I go for them or not? here is link Wagner ThermoQuiet QC436A Ceramic Disc Pad Set, Front : Amazon.com : Automotive

There is mail in rebate going on so the final price can be $14. Not bad???

my suggestion is an alternative to the Tundra upgrade.

Go with Brembo drilled and slotted rotors. I don't know what pads to use ... call Brembo (for real).. Anyways at least you get to keep your factory calipers.

This is the setup I have and its worked great for almost 5 years at half the cost of the Tundra upgrade.

Wouldn't bother reading with new 4rhnner brakes, you have to go Tundra, for a few dollars more its worth it.

Drilled yes, slotted no. Too much surface area lost which is what your trying to gain with your upgrade. The drill holes w/b enough increased cooling to keep that nasty warping away!

I got these rotors Raybestos 96632R and these pads Raybestos ATD436AC (AT-D436AC). Got them from Rock Auto. They work well. I pull a two horse enclosed trailer with one horse and it has no problems stopping. Without trailer brakes. Haven't had warping problems yet at all. No noise either. Was thinking about the tundra brake upgrade but didn't have money for it and no good junk yards here. But it stops great for me.

This is the place i usually get my brake stuff, Although i have not purchased for my T4R as yet. I did a search for 2002 with 16" wheels and this is what i came up with. The customer service is outstanding.
