3rd Gen, Highlander 4X4 with 0 Miles....

How much would you pay for it? (color of your choice, etc.)

Assuming Toyota reintroduced it in the current line-up (up against the 5th Gen), or someone had one in storage with no miles.... just curious how much you guys would be willing to pay

Actually, I wouldn't buy it. I'm not a huge fan of color matched bumpers, I like my auto over the 5spd, and I like the chrome mine has.
 
Honestly the 3rd gen is awesome for a 10+ year old car, but I'd rather get a 5th gen considering they would be roughly the same price. The 3rd gen is smallish for a family, mediocre power and not as nice as the Trail Edition. I love my 3rd gen, but I'd trade it for a 4th or 5th in heartbeat.

If I had the money and the desire, I think I'd pay close to $20K if it was brand new (and considering the window sticker on my truck was $32,900 back in '97). I bought mine in '01 with about 80k for $15K.

Finally! got someone to play the game....

$20K (maybe more) is the number I've been bouncing around in my head. Considering how well my truck has treated me (bought new in '98), I wouldn't be opposed to going through the experience again..... I am still hoping to find some hardcore 3rd genners who would push the $30 K boundary....

I've always said that I wouldn't trade my 1999 for a new 4th or 5th Gen.
That being said, I wouldn't pay $30K today for 13 old technology.
So if I had to put a dollar figure on it $20K would be my upper limit - however if one exisits let's talk :pimp:
 
I wouldnt pay 20k for that old engine, if toyota were to reintroduce with the dual vvti 4.0 or the hilux deisel then id pay 25-30k
 
I actually think like any other well-loved vehicles, these trucks might actually be collectable someday. Just like 60s and 70s muscle cars, 40s and 50s classics, early 20th century cars, etc.. People love their 4runners as much as anyone loves a car, so you never know.

I wonder how being Japanese will affect collectibility in like another 20 or 30 years? I can tell you right now though, I'd pay good money to get a 100% stock, mint condition '79 Toyota 4x4 P/U. I think that would be awesome! I saw a nicely rebuilt one on Craigslist about a year and a half ago for I think about $8500, but it was an '81 (still just as cool IMO).
 
I wouldn't pay over $10,000 for a "new" 3rd gen.

I don't see the difference between a well maintained and clean 100k mile 3rd gen and a new one.

its been a 1.5 years old now and I'm just under 34,000 miles now and never looked back.

Wow....I have to say I'm jealous and impressed..... What's the story behind that vehicle? 12 years old with 14k miles?
 
I wouldn't buy one new, i just wouldn't be able to wrap my head around 30k gone and ill never get it back. But i would certainly be happy if they never stopped making the 3.4 4x4 5 speed combo in the 3rd gen body, the newer ones got fatter and uglier, and much less utility friendly.
