I know a lot of you are on the fence about this mod, but my son went with these LEDs from Amazon and I have been very impressed with their performance. Tremendous improvement over stock halogens and they are not bad at all at light dispersion in the stock housings once we did a little elevation adjustment. Cannot speak on the longevity just yet as we have only had them about 3 months, but for the money (and warranty) you won't be disappointed in the light output.

i am glad i found this thread, i have been running Hella 90w/130w bulbs for years now and one of them recently crapped out. i originally bout them for $18 a pair, but now they are over $28. anyhow, it looks like the h4 leds are out of stock. if anyone finds some instock please let me know.

I finally got ahold my guy at Piaa™ again to get an update. At this time they only have H3's for fogs. I showed him the Amazon link and he told me they have been testing a manufactures H4's (which he said looked the same as the ones in the link, but I don't know if they are exactly the same) but they've been running them in their Tacoma and they lasted 3 months. They are warrantied of course, so they were sent another set, last 3 months, etc.
He told me he liked the lights and they looked great, but they just didn't last. Yea, it's cool they have that long warranty, but it's a pain if you lights only last 3 months or a year and then you have to wait for a new set to be sent out.
Again, I don't know exactly which brand lights they were testing. Piaa IS working on a H4 bulb but I'm not sure when it's going to be available as they are still doing tests in Japan. Here's some pics of the H3 to give an idea on what they will be like.

Hey all, just though I would pop in here. I am running the LifetimeLED (these https://www.lifetimeledlights.com/led_lights/h4_led_bulb_h4_led_headlight_bulbs ) bulbs in the stock 98 housing. I originally got the lights for my 89 Toy P/U with aftermarket housing. When I got the runner I put them in it. My housings are cloudy and I am looking at getting the updated housings at some point. But even with cloudy lenses the light output is much better than my moms 2000 4runner wtih 80/100w halogens. I also just really like the color of the light.

Just installed the 3200 lumen kit, and waiting for the sun to go down.....
First impression ( in the daylight ) they are a little bluish, more than I wanted, but they seem brighter. I pulled my OEM '97 bulbs to install these, so hopefully an improvement.

I am disappointed....
They are brighter....... These bulbs haven't got much throw I'm pretty sure the low beams reach about as far as my stock bulbs did in foggy, beat-down reflectors. High beams are disappointing; I can see them come on but they only throw a little more than the low beams do, there is not much discernible increase in light output.
I don't think they will stay very long, since I need good high beams for the types of driving I like to do

I am incredibly disappointed....
They are brighter.... for about ten whole feet. These bulbs have zero throw, Im pretty sure the low beams don't even reach out as far as my stock 15 year old bulbs did in foggy, beat-down reflectors. High beams are basically non existent; I can see them come on but they only throw as far as the low beams do, there is no discernible increase in light output.
Tomorrow these come right out and go back in the box. Sure am glad I didn't throw away my stockers
Any output pictures?
Maybe these results are due to the older style headlights and the condition of them? These seem to get good reviews and do well on the Tacomas...
Im curious on why the difference.

You are probably right about my headlights being in pretty rough shape. I was really excited because of the good reviews I had read, just feelin a bit let down.
Ahh I just seen your update haha. I was a a bit anxious about these as I'm about to get a set for myself.
I do have the newer style glass headlights so that might be a different factor. I also read some reviews that they might have to be adjusted after the install as well.

Ok guys so I bought a set just like the ones they sell at briteassleds.com, but I got them on ebay here 9003 H4 White Headlight High Low Beam 6500K 3200LM CREE Super Bright 40W LED Kit | eBay mainly because they're $70 cheaper than briteassleds and they're probably the exact same product. I installed them in an 02 4runner so they're the clear lenses.

The low beams as everyone says are awesome, and you get a ton of foreground light for about 10-15 ft in front, but after that it's pretty weak. The throw on these LED's just isn't as good as my piaa's I had in before. People will swear up and down that it seems brighter because of the foreground, but in reality, they won't be able to see as far down the road as they did before. The light is a super nice pure white without any blue, definitely whiter than the piaa's, and they light up street signs extremely well. The color of the light is definitely my favorite part of the switch to LED's...it makes your truck very modern looking and that pure white light in the foreground gives you the feel of a luxury vehicle. The high beams of these LED's aren't the best as people have commented on. I noticed the high beam reflects extremely high, like to the top of 20+ feet high trees and telephone poles, so if you switch on your highs without tall items around you, it will feel like the high beams make absolutely no difference because the "throw" of the light isn't any further than the low beams. But if you switch on the highs in an area that's densely populated with tall trees, that's where you really notice them because the very top of the trees become illuminated. If you drive with your high beams a lot, you wouldn't like these...my piaa's high beam was much better with a much further reach than the LED's.
I guess I am a little disappointed in these LEDs but I do drive with my high beams a lot on unlit back country roads. If you drive with mainly just your lows you'll probably like these more, since they are really bright in the foreground with a nice pure white light... they just don't have the reach like my piaas. I think these LED's are a lot better in a projector type headlight like the ones in the 06-09 4runner low beams and also the 14+ 4runner headlights.

I am looking at upgrading myself but I had a thought. I remember somewhere in this forum there being a link to projector housings from Russia. Anybody thought of throwing a set of the led lights in there since it's two different lights instead if one??

These are the same ones I got. I'm thoroughly convinced that they are the exact same bulbs as several other vendors. I researched A LOT, and compared them to as many other products as I could find.
My review would be about the same as Android_02.
Mine will be for sale if anyone wants to give them a try at a pretty big discount.

I will ad tho, that the bulbs themselves look to be nicely constructed and fairly robust. The housings are all aluminum, as are the heat sink/ micro-fan housings, even the little box (ballast) is aluminum. The wiring and connectors seem to be good quality too.... FWIW
You'll find those in Brilliant's Mod Thread. I'm still thinking about picking up a set.

Yea, I'm just going to hold our until Piaa makes a led. I have the Piaa extreme whites in my truck and have been running them for welll over 6+ years. They were always a ton better compared to stock and they are affordable and have a great color.

I recently emailed the Russian company that carries the headlights you are referring to. The guys wants $350 USD sent Western Union. I have been hesitant sending uncontrolled money to Russia. Although I'm still thinking about it.
I may email him back to see if he will provide a better price for more than one pair. We'll see!
