3rd Gen Remove Map Light Console

Hi,

This is for my 99 4runner limited.

I am replacing my sunroof switch today and need some help or advice on how to remove the map light console to install the new switch.

Here is my map light console.

I have already remove a cosmetic piece shown below

Not sure what the next steps are to remove the piece in full now.

Any ideas? I just don’t want to break anything

I can't remember off the top of my head but I believe there are either some screws behind the cosmetic cover you've removed, or in the sunglasses holder itself. Hopefully someone can chime in who's done this more recently than 5 years ago.

Not the DIY you're looking for, but Jim's old build has some good pics of the underside of the console, might give you a direction to start exploring at least

Page BO-79, Step 12. Says to remove the light lens and then the screw.

Remove the clear cover with a small flathead. You'll see some small slots towards the edge. There's one philips bolt holding it in. Take out the bolt and slide the console out towards you. One easily removable harness (blue I believe) and it's free.

Easy. Pop clear lens off and unscrew one bolt.
