3rd Gen Road Trip Network

Hey Dudes and Dudettes,

I have an idea and I wanted to know what Y'all think and whether there's interest in it. I'll be heading out on a month long road trip hitting several states doing some camping, mountain biking, hiking, site seeing and whatever. I was thinking it would be cool to meet up with other 3rd Gen 4runner enthusiasts in the places I'll be visiting. The reasons for the network is to have an alternative to camping or paying for a hotel, motel or Air B&B and to share some activities with like-minded people. When you sign up for this network, you would specify whether you're willing to put somebody up for a night or two or three or whatever, and what kind of activities you're into.

For Example: I'd put my screen name down @mtbtim, the city and state I live in: San Jose, CA, If I have a room available or maybe floor space: 2 Rooms Available , and what activities I'm into: Mtn Biking, Hiking, Backpacking, 4wheeling, Sic Mods, Beer Drinking.

To make this an easy thing for people to sign up for and less work for me, it could be a Google Doc that anyone has permission to edit so they can add their information to the live document.

I'm not set on the name of this network so if somebody has a better name, let me know.

So, what do Y'all think?

I vote you call it the Griswold network...

I think it's a good idea. Especially if someone breaks down on the trail, needs tools or their spare gets a flat etc.

I own a house & only my GF lives here with me (and 3 dogs). So we have 2 guest rooms & two full size couches that convert into beds. We'd just need advanced notice for sleep overs to vacuum & dust. My shepard sheds like a muther fooker.

In the off chance you decide to take I-70 and cut through Kansas City, let me know.
We'll hit up a BBQ joint that everyone tries when they come here and it's good. :)

I think its a cool idea for sure. Not sure how many people are in the Ottawa, ON, Canada area. But id be willing to lend a hand / tools when need be. Met a guy the other day through the “mafia” fb page and offered him to use my crank pulley tool and bearing puller for his TB job. He is a wrenched so I didnt mind offering.

I think it's a great idea and was planning on starting my own thread for my trip next year. I am going across the U.S. 4-6 months mostly camping, but want to find out about all the hidden gems and back roads that can't be missed.

It’s a great idea!! I’ve met a lot of FB people at different events such as Goruck or Marine stuff so the spidey network is fun.
If you don’t mind kids, cat n a dog I have couches and floor space plus can attempt to help with stuff. And I like to grill too.

Anyways, good idea. Btw I was through KC back in June going to a Goruck event and may be in NY in Nov for another Goruck event. Dibs on floor space Scramble

it sounds pretty good but I have little ones so have to keep that into context because solo or couples in my experience is easy but when you put 5 and under into the mix it gets a little complicated (patience) is required quiet a bit nevertheless It would be great to do stuff with like minded people and meet others.
