I saw a glowing orange object from a ways away as I got closer I could see the flames and that it was a car and then a little closer… And it was a 3rd Gen 4runner. Another one bites the dust.

I bought a second 3rd Gen and I'm in the process of modifying the crap out of it. Accessory lighting for off-roading is going to be one of things I plan on doing. I don't know much about messing with electrical so I will be enlisting the help of those that do. My point is most vehicle fires are electrical related unless somebody torched their rig for the insurance money. But, it could have been due to a fuel leak or even possibly a really bad oil leak. I'm a firefighter and I've been to a ton of vehicle fires. If it wasn't arson, it was most likely due to a short in the electrical system.

Hah! Might as well be the new slogan for OEM. For as often as we get all of these build threads with $3000 lift and tires and then Walmart brand ball joints I wish it was the slogan.

Maybe, but it's been my experience that insurance fires don't usually happen on busy roads. They take it somewhere off the beaten path to make it look like somebody stole it, brought it to a remote location where there's not a lot of people around and torched it.

And this is one reason why I carry a fire extinguisher in my 4runner, always close at hand.

My experience has shown me it happens both ways, whatever is convient for some folks. Friends in insurance business say same thing. Not saying the cause was not a shade tree electrician or dropping a blunt between center console and seat.

I'm a firefighter and I've been to a ton of vehicle fires. If it wasn't arson, it was most likely due to a short in the electrical system.

Interesting. In my world (modified Subarus and Toyotas), most of the fires I have seen have been due to sketchy fuel system modifications and leaks. Power steering fluid likes to flame-up too. Very important to keep those systems in good working order and use quality parts when there is a risk of fire.

Electrically, if you fuse everything with the correct value, you should be fairly safe. The big scary one that is left is the starter motor - those are never fused (for the main power wire).

The reason folks hold the phone wrong(vertical) is that the phone is much easier to hold vertically with one hand.
It is the brain-dead phone manufacturers that won't put a camera in the phones that shoots horizontal (correct) video while holding the phone vertically.
Note to the OP: there are free apps that allow you to flip the video around so others don't have to watch it sideways.

LOL! It's not the phone makers fault that people are dumb or lazy or don't have common sense or just don't think or all of the above. Now I'm not talking about the OP here. I'm sure he had to grab his phone quick to catch that. Vertical videos are everywhere & are annoying. Thumb under the phone & two fingers on top, very easy. It's a big problem with society today, dont take responsibility for your actions, it's always someone else's fault. Lets just say it's "Progressive". Douche Bags.

Sure if it happens in some BS thread fine, whatever. But take some pride in your work. Are you really that lazy that you can't go back & fix it? I'm not buying your crap from the classifieds if you cant post a decent pic & I'm not going through your amature looking build thread either. :bolt:
