Is this just on the cloth seats? I don't think my Sport with leather has this.

My SR5 with leather seats doen't have this either. When I read about this after I bought it, I was excited. Went and looked after work. Nope!

Only on cloth and only on 1998+ I believe. The 1998 has a few upgrades that it never gets credit for.

Limited '01 & '02 came with Homelink in the driver sun visor & heated front seats. Also the sun visors on '01 & '02 have extensions that slide out.

*Edit* Oh yeah, the driver side vanity mirror is lighted too on '01-'02 Limiteds. I know, who cares about sun visors, but it's the little things that are enjoyable. I am very happy with the '01 Limited sun visors I swapped in to my rig. Now if I could only get ahold of some heated seats....

when I press my sunroof button once it opens half way. I have to hold the button for it to open all the way. I just discovered the heated mirrors this winter. came in quite handy.

true story, I scared myself with the alarm the other day. rolling around nice day with windows down, I lock my 4runner and go in, come back out and instead of using the key, I reach in the window and pull the lock and the alarm starts blaring... I know I jumped, didn't know it could do that. cool stuff.

My 99 SR5, cloth seats, no locker has heated mirrors and super secret gear mode... (burnt out bulbs that indicate gear on dash)

Found the hidden console compartment in my 2002 the other day, ridiculous how excited I was. Heated mirrors are worth every penny. Other stuff that's probably in the owner's manual but I've been thinking about it so I'll post anyway.

1. Heated seats on 2001-2 models are programmed - when engaged they start on high and then after a few min decrease to low/med for comfort.
2. Rear defrost and heated mirrors are on a timer - auto-off after 20-30 min. Learned this when I spent the night in that storm on the PA Turnpike last mo.

do you have the leather seats? I think/would bet that it comes with leather seats and the ltd flares... as a pkg. but maybe not... still I know not all sr5's have heated mirrors.

I pulled out the 2000 4Runner dealer brochure and the original dealer tag from my 2000 SR5 - looks like in at least that year heated power outside mirrors were standard.

I did this in my 04 Taco. Worked well, but when I needed to read my CEL, my OBDII reader had trouble communicating. Just an FYI.

The sunglasses holder is actually for a garage door opener. It came with velcro in there to attach an opener remote, and you use the right length nub and it pushes the button when you push up on it.

Interesting...yours is backwards

On my truck one press opens it all the way to the back, but I have to hold the button the whole time on the close, and it stops half-way in that direction.

I found out about the auto head light turn off the hard way.

I purchased my '01 new and not long after I was joining some of the boys for a trip into the city for a bachelor party. Met up for a car pool in a buddies ride to go see the "ballet", got down the road and realized we had no tunes...doubled back, and got into my 4Runner from the passenger side and turned the key so I could eject a CD. Got out, locked it up and had a great night. Very late the next morning I went to get my truck and nothing...dead as a door nail. It was then that I figured out that all those times I had forgot to turn my headlights off, those forward thinking Japanese engineers had been protecting me.

My 00 SR5 has the heated mirrors activated by the rear defrost button. It also has the limited fender flares, bigger tires package - I don't know whether the heated mirrors were standard or came with a package.

Is there a sticker or something that tells you whether you have it or not?

You can raise/lower the back window from outside by turning and holding the key to one side in the trunk lock.

if you're working on something and your driver door needs to be open, just turn the key to the on position and it will stop dinging.

whats weird is the windows will roll down for the 43 seconds, but the rear one doesnt, but its the only one you can use the key to move up and down.
