3rd Gen Starting Issue

Alright ever since I bought my 99 SR5, I've seemed to have starter issues. Every once in a while, after it rains a lot, I'll try to start it with no success. All the accessories turn on when I turn the key to on and it seems fine until I turn the key to start, and there is one click then everything shuts off. It acts like the battery is dead. Once I disconnect the terminals and reconnect them, same thing happens (all accessories turn on then dies completely when I twist to start it with a single click). I've replaced my starter, tried jump-starting, replaced my battery, checked the relay, and nothing changes. It only happens every once in a while, but I don't want to ignore it. Any suggestions?

Sounds to me like your neutral safety switch is going out. Next time these symptoms are happening, shift the truck into neutral, then try to turn the truck over. Hope this helps.

Good luck. Nothing worse than chasing gremlins in the electric. Sounds like a ground issue with all electrical dying when you turn the ignition to start.

Id put money on the battery terminals. do a good cleaning on them with wire brush and the wires them selfs.then tighten them down good. I see it all the time where enough voltage is there to light it all up. once you turn the key the it cant supply the voltage and it drops turning everything off with it. Spray some of that battery stuff on after to help prevent corrosion from getting in there.

I know this sounds silly and cant be but you would be surprised.

Big 3 mod is always good also. I did my truck.
