3rd Gen Subwoofer Install

In the past week or so, there was a picture posted of a rear speaker install with 4 alpine speakers and a couple amps installed in the rear floor. Can someone show me that link? Also a link to the build thread if possible. It may have been in the 3rd Gen section, but posting here just in case.

I am doing some research on audio upgrade on my son's 4runner. As a teenager, he is excited about subs. I do not like the huge sub box taking up all the room in the back. I like the subwoofer box in the side panel, but really liked the install of the speaker array in a false floor.

I'd like to know more about that install, and really wondering if the 4 smaller speakers will give the bass response that a teen will appreciate?

Who knows, when I talk to him, he may like to have those huge speakers back there for everyone to gawk at!

Go big or go home. :biggrin1:

This is my setup. I'm not sure the post that your talking about. I just want an excuse to show off my subs. I'll bump your thread though: BUMP

Edit:

And as to the 4 smaller speakers; it really depends on speaker size and amperage. I would just find a cheap 10" with about 600w. That should keep your kid happy ( and your neighbors from getting too pissy ) :biggrin1:

I have 2 Alpine 8's in a 1.4 cube enclosure tuned to 33hz on about 900+ watts. Gets VERY loud and pounds...with clarity. Plus, it only takes up a space 12 x 22 on the rear floor. As far as being as loud as two 10's or 12's...of course without the cone area the 8's will not win an SPL comp apples to apples. BUT, how loud do you really need it? You don't need to go big to get ridiculous output.

I invite anyone who doesn't believe me, to come to AZ and audition my system. You would be surprised how much output two 8's can achieve.

I'm in Glendale, AZ :)... And I believe you... It's all about the setup

Not sure how into car audio you are...but there is a get-together scheduled for next Saturday (23rd) at Handcrafted Car Audio in Mesa. Most of the people are from a DIY car audio forum where the majority of the people are into sound quality vs. sound quantity. There will be some pretty impressive systems to see and listen to. Also, the Magic Bus will be there.... About

Lol I just happened to come across this post and couldn't resist... I'm running (2) HD750/1 and (1) HD600/4 the setup is out of my Caddy and luckily it fit like a glove in between the tire tubs
