3rd gen supercharged vs. V8 4th gen

***Edited post to correct info***

From some info ive read on speedys blog Project SportRunner he had his dyno'd with 7th injector and 2.2 pulley. He put down 240rwhp and 260rwtq. Assuming 20% drivetrain loss that's 288hp and 312tq at the crank.

Now to compare those numbers to a stock V8 4th gen you'd have 235hp and 320tq for 2003-2004 models with non VVT-I. 2005-2009 offer 270hp and 330tq. Both V8 models offer the 5 speed auto trans which is probably much better than the more sluggish 4 speed auto in the 3rd gen.

so all seems somewhat comparable according to just numbers, although 5 speed automatic probably makes quite a difference.

3.4L V6 supercharged with urd 7th injector and 2.2 pulley
288hp and 312tq at the crank - 240rwhp and 260rwtq at the wheels

4.7L V8 stock 2003-2004
235hp and 320tq at the crank - 188rwhp and 256rwtq at the wheels

4.7L V8 stock 2005-2009 VVT-i
270hp and 330tq at the crank - 216rwhp and 264rwtq at the wheels

any dyno charts showing those numbers?

it would be interesting to see where that power is, compared to the v8.

The numbers for the supercharged 7th injector and 2.2 pulley came from speedy's blog. There is a link to the website above and their is a dyno graph posted. I have not seen a dyno graph for any stock 4th gen V8's but if I dig around maybe ill find one.

I too would like compare the graphs to get a much better idea of where the power is and how the curve is shaped. It gives a much more realistic representation of performance than just comparing basic numbers.

He ordered the SC. It was a TRD ordered from Toyota. Brand new, in the box, full warranty.
He is near Golden (6th & Indiana). He will arrange for a rental car from Enterprise ($40) and drop you off. You will easily save the price for the rental car (and then some...). He did my timing belt (for about 1/2 the price of anyone else) and when he forgot to arrange for a rental car...he closed the shop (it was just him at the time) and took me home (at least 90 minutes of his time). Great customer service, great mechanical service. He'll do all my major work as long as he is in business.

Thanks for the heads up. I just looked around his website and emailed him with some questions about engine swaps. Cool thing too is I live just outside of Golden.

in our family my wife has a 03 runner with the 4.7 and I have a 98 3.4 SC with 5 speed, they are both great but make power different. for your needs I would say that you should look into an exhaust turbo setup with boost control much like Clownmeat has. you can get more boost for elevation and the cost seems much less than a supercharger. I love my supercharger but if I had lived and driven in high elevation I would probably have chosen to turbo instead of supercharger except that I rock crawl and I wouldn't want even a little lag. I can tell you this that when my wife and I get above 7000 feet my runner seems less affected by the thin air than my wife's V8.
