Of course I could have. With parts and labor I was looking at 4-5k and basically would have rebuilt the top half of the engine with the bottom half having 311k on it. Likely I'm in there in another year rebuilding the bottom half and at that point I would have spend more. I didn't choose it because it was the cheapest route, I chose it because I want my 5 year old daughter to drive this car when she's 16. I'm the original owner and put every mile on this car.

Looks good! What are you getting to replace the Tacoma? Is it too much for a daily driver when you've got the 4Runner also, or just time for something different?

I've always liked that color on Tacomas. My dad had one in that color we took out into the New Mexico desert a few times back when I was a kid. Kinda wish I could buy it from you when you sell it.

I have been watching the market in three states on 2005-2006 four door 4wd Tundras for about a year. I've found a few really nice examples that got away from me (sold in <24hrs on c-list) because I wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger.

The Tacoma really amounts to a 4WD two door sports car. It is fast, fun to drive (esp with the 5 speed and the short shifter), and can go anywhere to boot. However, it is really only good for carrying two adults and maybe some dogs, and we're a family of four.

I've been watching the Tacoma market like a hawk too, and I think this one will sell quickly once listed.

New 3rd gen owner here! Lots of info here. Awesome rigs you guys have! It's 1997, 4x4, 5 speed, 3rz motor. It's pretty much stock as of now, just on Bilstein 4600. I'm planning on lifting 2-3". Main usage is for mild offroad trails and street. Any suggestions on what lift to go with and tire size without having to regear? Thanks!

On my rig I have a 3 inch lift, and 33s are the biggest I would go without regearing

Have not posted in 7 years...

I have kept it really simple the last 7 years. Clear coat is finally starting to turn white near the moonroof. Sitting around 202k miles. Nostalgic being back on here!

My rock sliders are a weld together kit from 4xinnovations, only costed me about $275 after shipping and paint.

Went with a group from tacoma world on a Big Bear camping/wheeling trip. We did the Gold Mountain trail and had a lot of fun!

Suspension:

D558 5100s up front with Toytec/Eibach springs
Tundra 5100s out back with OME 890s, 2 10mm trim packers on the drivers side and 1 on the passenger side

Wheels/Tires:
SCS Ray10 16x8 ET-12 wrapped in Falken Wildpeak A/T3W in LT285/75/16
