Welp, I'm the proud new owner of a '99 SR5 in need of a laundry list of parts, but the body and interior are in great shape! Plus cold AC, hot heat, cruise all works. Got it trailered to my house yesterday. The project begins...

Also have manual windows and the driver side is giving out any one have recommendations on a used or new replica?
cant seem to find it anywhere online.
Also my rear window is broken thats actually automatic. Anyone have a how to video for that?

First of all, welcome.

When I purchased my 4Runner it had manual windows installed by the previous owner, meaning that it had come from the factory with electric windows. It also did not have a functioning rear window, though the motor, regulator, and other internals all looked fine. I am not a fan of crank windows so it was the first thing I changed after buying it. All of the wiring harnesses were still present and when I plugged in the master (driver's side) window switch to test it I was able to operate the rear window. So on my '99 with factory electric windows you need to have the master window switch plugged in to operate the rear window.

If yours also originally came with electric windows I would bet that is the reason your window doesn't go down. I'm curious how it works for 4Runners that came from the factory with manual windows because as far as I'm aware they still have operable rear windows. You can make a thread about the issue so others can chime in too.

There's a really handy search tool you can use to find things like this you're looking for. If you type

straight into Google it'll search the 3rd gen forum for that specific string. Much better than the built in search feature.

Looks like mine was just factory manual. Which idk how many they made, I didnt see any electricals so thats why i assume
I need to search how to fix that rear auto window gets stuck and my moon roof is toasted which i dont use anyways

Ideally I'd want manual cranks for the drivers window and electric everything else. So you can still control all from the drivers seat. And if you end up in a lake and the electrical system dies you can still roll down your window. Hey, if you need to get rid of your old manual cranks... lemme know.

Yeah, manual window 4Runners still got a power rear window. Oh, and power mirrors (control on the dash instead of the door control).

Check for window operation with the key in the rear keyhole (turn and hold each direction). Any number of places can have an issue, so this is just a process of debugging.

Good looking truck! Love the black wheels though, those tires look a little too big and that you'll be rubbing fenders a lot...lol

Just joined the forum. This is my 3rd gen T4R, 2000, SR5, 5MT, 4WD. It's been a huge project, bought the car on BaT around a year ago and it had way more rust than I anticipated. I had to do a full frame swap after the passenger rear lower control arm mount broke off while I was driving :wow:. But now it has a powder coated frame, all new OEM front suspension, highlander springs and Bilstein 5100s among many other new OEM parts.
