my new one.......
just bought this on 11/16/09. first 4runner, and i am LOVING IT. all stock now except head unit and removing the running boards. i don't off road, just not my thing. the farthest it will go will be the occasional back road, the one bad weather day a year we get here, and maybe a couple trips up to the mountains a year nothing more. no lift planned, just some 31 or 32 inch bfg AT's for looks.
it's a 2.7 ltr, 5 speed base. any performance (no jokes there) ideas?

Are those rear mounted fog/driving lights inside your truck, on the ceiling?
Also, I'd like to do the brake mod, how much was it and where did you buy the materials?

yes they are back up lights... as for the 3rd brake light you need of course stuff to solder with you will need the leds can get them on hid planet there lumiled superflux red/orange some pref board and the resistors

Well I purchased about 4 months ago a Black 2000 2.7l 5spd with 99k on the clock. Wasn't in bad shape. Has a few dents and dings I'm suspecting from parking lots full of shopping carts. Had some water etching all over more so on the hood. Corner lights were holding water and one of the headlights had a nice rock hole. Buffed it out with a few of my 3M products and then waxed it. Paint looked as good as new. Now I can see myself in it and the paint isn't faded anymore.
I bought a new headlight assy, corner lenses, tinted the windows 5% picked up some Tundra 18's BBS's with TRD center caps like my old tundra had for free off a friends scrap truck. Initially went over the truck and drained all fluids and everything looked well kept. Nothing burnt, plugs looked good, air filter was new. Truck has been running great since I've bought it.
Put about 5k miles on it, synthetic oil, diff, trans fluid.
Will probably throw a powertrax in the rear end sometime then lift it and throw on the 18's. Might even possibly turbo it at some point and time with all my left over supra stock parts. Also will be doing the Tundra BBK as soon as the 18's are on! Can do that under 300$$
How it sits as of today, excuse the gloomy day and cell pics.
It's been a month since I've waxed it last but the paint looks beautiful nowadays even when it's dirty, dusty, and full of rain water spots that you can barely see in the pic.
Heres a pic of my old lifted Tundra. The 4runner will have the same wheels.

I bought this 02 2wd Sport in May '08 with 53K on the dial. The first pick is bone stock except for the grille guard. When I put the grille guard on, the skid plate wouldn't fit back, so I threw it away. That was before I discovered T4R.org - little did I know, someone on this site could've used it. I've since added a SS 3.0 lift, got some stock 5 stars and painted them black, added 265/75 BFG all terrains. After a wash, clay bar, wax after Thanksgiving dinner, she's pretty. I'm thinking I'll lose the running boards next. What do y'all think?

Thanks - I meant what do y'all think about removing the boards. I rarely take her off road, and if I do, it's not to do any wheeling. So removing the boards would be purely for cosmetic reasons. I was kinda wondering if the ladies would have trouble getting in and out

This looks similar to what I'd like to do with my car. Keep it mostly stock, just upgrade a few things (like suspension/tires etc, to help off roadability). I like the clear corners. Hadn't thought of that before, but I may have to look for some.
