3rd Gen w/ Double Din Stereo

Those of you with a doube DIN/2 DIN stereo in your 3rd gen 4runner, do you have a motorized faceplate? Most of the units I am looking at dont have the ability to adjust the viewing angle.

Is this required? I am worried about glare and not being able to see the GPS, touchscreen, etc. Could an antiglare screen protector be used?

I would love to hear feedback from others who have a unit installed!

I've got a double-din NAV unit and always have it at a slight angle. I'm actually leaving soon to run a couple of errands and it's a pretty sunny day. I'll put it back to straight vertical and give you my thoughts.

I have a non-adjustable double DIN in mine, and the glare can be pretty annoying at times. If the sun is in front or overhead, it's usually fine, but at the sides or below the rear window, I can't see a thing. An antiglare protector might help, but I don't have any experience with them.

I have one with a motorized display. It has a matte screen so glare isn't an issue, but if the sun is shining directly on it I actually can't see what's on the screen. I rarely run into this issue though.

I drive into the sun going to work and coming home. It's more than just the radio I can't see when the sun is directly infront of me.

Do you have a tilt on your display, or do you leave it flat? Is it easy to adjust?

It automatically tilts when it turns on, then it goes back to flat when it powers off, as per my settings. To be honest, on mine it's not easy to adjust. I have to go a few levels deep into the menu to change the angle. So, not something I'd do when I'm driving lolol. It's a Kenwood DDX672BH

I have a motorized tilt on my wife's. And I had a not tilting one in mine. Both can have glare, the matte screen is helpful, but there are times they are hard to see. In my wife's I'm able to tilt and will sometimes help a little, other times it doesn't seem to make much difference. I put the non tilting one in the Tacoma, same issues.

I have a tablet in my own truck, I have to move it for glare quite often, but I can just grab it and adjust the mount. None of this is perfect.

Drove around for a while with it vertical and found that it does pick up a bit more glare, but nothing super noticeable. The incidences where it was hit with direct sun also washed out even if it was tilted. I did find that I much prefer to view it from an angled screen being where it sits on the dash as opposed to when it's flat.

I have one in my 3rd gen. It can be annoying sometimes. I use my phone for navi though...
