3rd Gen wheels and tires

I have a couple questions on wheels and tires. My SR5 is stock.

I want to know what the biggest wheels and tires I could mount without any type of lift and what type of wheels I could run all year long?

I live in Minnesota where we have cold weather for over half the year. I do t want to switch the on and off. I want to get wheels and run them all season. Any one have any suggestions on wheels and tires? I'm open to ideas. I'm also taking off the window and hood crap that's installed on it.

Also, I'm probably going to remove the running boards as well. I seen one without them and I think it's sweet!

32" is the biggest you can run without a lift and issues with rubbing and some tires you will still rub slightly. Wheels are entirely up to you as they all will be fine. Find what you like and go for it. I would suggest an A/T tire like the bridgestone revo 2 or bfg A/T.

On a side note, if you want to get rid of the window guards, I would love to take them off your hands.

Again, when it comes to wheels, its entirely up to you. If your familiar with photoshop, take different designs and see what they look like. Wheels will change the entire look of the vehicle. What you like, I may not and what I like, my neighbor may not. Its entirely up to you. I honestly prefer the Tundra split spokes that i have over nearly every other wheel i have seen on a 4runner but thats just my preference.

The search bar up top as well as the new member faq stickies are all great sources of information. Again, you can run up to a 32" (more like 31.6") tire without any issues of rubbing or very minimal rubbing without a lift. How you equate that into rim size is up to you. You could run a 20" rim with the right tire if you wanted. I personally run a 17" rim an most guys on here run 16".

Let me know what you would want for the window guards if you do decide to get rid of them. BTW, welcome to the board. The mod bug will bite hard and fast so be ready for it.

tire size is gonna depend a lot on what you want, do you want a super tall tire, or a wide tire. i think a 285 70 16/17 will be the biggest tire you can run without a lift, i did this for a long time with my rig, but i did have some minor rubbing, but that was only at full lock and full stuff. those conditions only happened at very low speeds so it never bothered me or caused any damage...

take a look through my build thread, and you will see the look of the 285 70 17 tires and wheels -im running a factroy 00-06 tundra/sequoia wheel(s) and love them.

hope that helps. you can also run a 265 75 16/17 tire that is just slightly narrower and about the same height. -but tire size is gonna vary by each manufacture and type of tire, just cause two tire manufactures or even different types of tire from the same manufacture, say they are a 285 70 16, they might be dimensionaly different from each other. so your gonna have to see what fits and what doesnt. also they type of tire you want can dictate what size you get, as not all tires come in all sizes.

I'm also a fan of using OEM wheels. It almost doesn't matter what it's from...4th gen 4Runner, Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, Tundra/Sequoia, they all look right at home.

I run the Tundra/Sequoia split spokes and like them very much. They are 1" taller than the stock 5-spokes and 1/2" wider.

I would keep the wheels you have unless there is anything wrong with them or you just have an aftermarket wheel that your dying to have.

I ran 265/75/16 BFG ATs when mine was stock. No rubbing at all and a great all weather/terrain tire. They did pretty well in snow, which I'm sure you have plenty of.
