690 and 890 are last year's versions. Replaced with 691 and 891. Major improvements with processors and nav layout. I had both those units in my 4th Gen last year. Currently running a dnn991hd in my 4th Gen

I wonder if I will have any issue with the install then. I used to install my own crap back in the day.. but I think that I might have the shop do it.. my speakers/co's need replacing as well.. So you think it's a better idea to go with the newer H/U then? I'm sure that the older units will be a tad less expensive, but I don't want to sacrifice performance for a few dollars. It might not be worth it.

i look at it like this, do you buy a leftover vehicle that is new or a new vehicle in the current model year? the 2014 kenwood have HDMI support, dual processors, and updated garmin software. i am a full kenwood and pioneer dealer. you can PM me for pricing and i promise it will be good
I think you can install it yourself, nothing really has changed much. only things i can across in 3rd gens are some amp behind the radio that needed to be bypass by unplugging it and wiring to it. I'm sure others can chime in with the exact info on how to do it. I usually do the install case by case basis and remember the info at that current time and forget it the next day
so many cars so little storage space in my head hahaha.i am 1000% it is not worth it to go with the last years stuff. there are some freezing and bt compatibility issues last year. if they out of warranty you SOL.

I have had the H/U changed about 3 times so the original head isn't there.. Currently I have an Alpine and their EQ (REMEMBER THAT)? I have 2 amps in the back as well.
The Amp(factory) you speak of.. I'm not even sure it's still there. This is what I have currently. I did not shoot the Amps... I can if you want, but being a dealer you already know what an Alpine amp looks like.
I was just worried about a double DIN fitting in my old skool truck. I have never had one before always single.
