3rd leaky caliper

Hey guys and gals...ive searched hi and low and couldnt find any answers so here goes...im now on my 3rd front left caliper in 4 months due to leaks...not leaking from the bleeder or the line...fluid is visually coming out from inside the caliper, either from a piston seal, or from between the two halves. my question is this: is there some kind of pressure bias or something that could be causing these to blow out, or do you think i simply ran into a bad batch of re-man calipers?

I went with NAPA when I replaced my calipers and was immensely impressed with the quality of work on the remans.

I can't remember when I did the project in relation to me selling my truck, but probably put 10k+ miles on them without any issues.

They're also $85 with a lifetime warranty...

well then ill go ahead with the install if no one knows of any pressure bias issues up-stream that might be causing this...thanks for the input
 
If there are pressure issues they'd stem from your brake booster. I can't think of anything else that could cause too much pressure at the caliper.
 
I Wonder if someone on the reman line has gotten a little wild with the reemer and has been boring piston holes too big vs just honing them all shiny like.


I Bet you a steak dinner if you go with a different brand from a different seller your problem would be fixed.

I have over the years had caliper piston problems with these re-build calipers. I do take out the pistons and check out the bore for debris and scratches .

the only time I have had to replace calipers was due to piston binding . the pistons where distorted.

one time since I did not need the vehicle quickly I used some crocus paper the sanded the piston down ... I could see it was a defective machine job after I did that. put it all back and the piston worked much better . when the new part came in inspected it and then installed no problems ..

the pistons leak because those seals are damaged on install or metal debris damaging them... with the piston hose connection open the pistons should move with the fingers not with much force.

ill cover half the cost.

At the minimum go with centric's 142 series where they change everything + piston. if not check out advics sounds like they are the oem reman company.

Rebuilding a caliper doesn't involve any boring/honing/reeming of the bore. Just cleaning...the piston is the sealing surface. (exceptions are old dunlop/corvette/budd style calipers, but they're rare).

There is a crossover seal (looks like a square cut o-ring) between the caliper halves that isn't hard to screw up if the rebuilders are hacks.
