3rd row seats or not?

I have the 3rd row and use it all the time. I also have three boys. I have also run into times when I didn't think I needed it and all of a sudden did so I am glad I have it...

There is a space reduction but it really doesn't bother me as I am able to still load a ton of crap in the back or in my Skybox above.

In the end, it is really your choice. If I didn't have kids I would not have gotten the 3rd row.

smeeg. I vote no. By the time you have a wife, 2 kids and a doggie, you'll be buying her a minivan anyway.

Save yer money, you'll need it.

I had a the 4Runner and Corvette before getting married. Since getting married, adopting and having a baby the corvette has gone by the wayside. It was replaced by a Denali XL and that in turn has been replaced by an explorer. Through it all the 5 seat 4Runner has remained

They come with three rows?;):

I thought about that too when I went looking, because I thought
maybe I was missing something. Then I remembered, I don't
have kids. And if I'm going anywhere with a group, we can always
take two cars. Or I can ride with someone who has a third row,
but not sit in it - I'll take the front seat.

If I was a lot handier id take em out and customize that area, maybe a nice stash box for road hazard items etc. underneath a nice flat top. Since I'm not that handy I'll be leaving it as is, as I'd probably make it worse. Now if I could find a handy person or shop in my town that I could trust to do a nice job of it I'd remove em and customize that area in a heartbeat.

You could probably sell them and use the money to get something custom. I may take mine out at some point since I rarely use them, but they aren't in the way.

A nice custom piece is down the line when I find a house/shop...love the central Oregon real estate market :-)

Been here two years, this place is Gods gift to man.
I'd love to see what you do with your setup if you eventually dump the third row.
I've always got my eye out for a good shop. It seems off road customizing shops here are few and far between.

Skip the third row seats. They are useless to begin with, take up space, and add weight. You're not going to lose resale value. If people really need a useable third row, then the 4Runner is not the right vehicle.

Thanks, I'll go right out and sell mine, appreciate you setting everyone straight.

Has anyone taken the sliding tray out of a '13 TE and installed third row seats? If I could have had this option factory I would have had the perfect mid-size SUV (for me of course).

This. Would've gotten a TE if it had the third row option. Got an SR5 because it didn't. :-/
