My 94, 3.0 is driving me nuts. It was at the mechanic getting some coolant seals taken care of and they replaced the EGR modulator which took care of the code 71 it had. Got it back and I have an intermittent stalling problem. The mechanic has had it for about a week and yesterday they call and say pick it up we don't know where the problem is. They want more money to troubleshoot it more. No thank you. So, I unplugged the EGR sensor for the last two days and no more stalling, but code 71 is back of course. Vacuum lines are hooked up right, modulator tests okay and I would have to think the sensor works if it triggers the check engine. I haven't tested the sensor yet because the FSM shows that you have to heat it in oil??? Am I on the right track with this? Didn't stall before the new modulator. I figure unplugging the sensor is effectively shutting down the EGR system and the stall goes away, so is there another component that could be causing the stall but not throwing a CEL?
