3VZE Power Steering Belt Removal

Hey anyone. I am doing a fan pulley bracket replacement. Power steering belt is holding me up. I have removed PS bracket bolts. PS belt tension bolt ( the one behind PS pump)> I have even removed PS pulley bolt. PS unit wiggles, moves, but not enough for for slack to remove belt. I have tried to pry PS pulley off. There doesn't seem to be a snap-ring still holding PS pulley on shaft. Does it take a lot of prying to remove PS pulley? PS pulley is in the way of completely removing PS pump long bolt that it pivots on. I have seen thread where PS belt is removed with out removing PS pulley. For now its just not happening for me. Any help is greatly appreciated. I hope I don't have to unconnect any PS pump hoses.

Belt shouldn't be hard to remove. Either you missed something or the belt is too tight

Belt will get loose if you detach bracelet holded by two bolts.
It is not needed to pry PS pulley.

Thanks you guys. I believe I have all the PS Steering bracket bolts removed. I really can't see any others .Belt tensioner bolt removed also. I can move PS unit a little seems to be held up by long pivot bolt towards lower right. Which of course PS pulley prevents its removal. I'll keep at it. Again thanks.

You need to remove this long pivot bolt. It is lack of space there, but it is possible to unscrew it

Success! Noticed an AC hose that snakes up and over and has a clamp to the PS unit. Front of hose going down towards bottom of radiator was tight. Upon unbolting clamp there was a slight more amount of slack in PS belt. I did have to yank it somewhat where belt engages center pulley behind fan clutch tangentially. Belts in general don't seem to have that much slack still takes some tugging or prying.
Maybe the long pivot bolt would come out with this extra movement from unclamping ac hose. I didn't try.
I'll have to find out if Toyota sells replacement pulley for this PS unit. I may have to cut out space on pulley to remove pivot bolt in order to remove PS unit and to try the OEM rebuild kit someday. This pulley, unbolted, does not seem like it will come off.
The belts are about 5yrs old and 50k miles on them. Now that it is 2016. Would new belts from Autozone be good enough. I'll check Toyota dealer to see if they have new belts in stock for 92 4runner 3VZE. Maybe I'll get lucky and they will. Thanks everybody.

I've run Good Year gatorbacks for quite a long time, they work quite well. I think I got it from Napa, but I don't really recall when.

As long as you buy a decent brand, you should be just fine. Belts are something I don't tend to buy OEM, aftermarket manufacturers are just as good, if not better than OEM most of the time.

10-4, I am going to get belts from autozone, nearest store to me. I just had a scare, Iwas looking at picture on my phone and I thought timing belt marks were not lined up. I just took look at motor itself. They are!
Anyways. thanks, time to put it back together: I basically had it dis-assembled down to timing cover #2 and crank pulley.
Also a little info for others: local Toyota dealer here has timing belt replacement special: $179.95 for a 6 cylinder. Guess what, 2nd gen Toyotas are 6cylinder Toyotas. I had this done myself 5yrs. ago. I did pay more for OEM parts see sig. total about the price of a decent new set of tires. might be worth it for anyone to check with their local Toyota dealers
