Question is im looking down my heads at the valve stem and I see this crap. Also there is no carbon build up like the rest of the ports. It looks like water has been getting in there because I see what looks like rust. Any ideas?

This is what the rest of them look like looking down the port compared to the first picture. In the first picture there is no carbon build up in the port, Just the rusty looking crap on top of the valve. Compared to this picture above where the valves look fine from what I can see and there is carbon build up. The heads are coming off today. I'm in the process of doing the head gasket so the heads will be sent off to the machine shop.

Which cylinder is it?
What did the plugs look like, especially from this cylinder?
What were your compression readings?
Were you loosing coolant?
Typically moisture getting into a cylinder steam cleans things. When you get the head removed, flip it over and take a picture.
Before you spend money on head work, be sure you don't have a crack somewhere.
