4.88 from 95 into 86

I read somewhere you can take the rear chunk and front diff assy from a 95. I say 95 because I have a donor 95. with 4.88 and put them in my 86. the 95 has electric lok front. will this work and how do I hook up or bypass the e lok . also it has v6 in it.also will the v6 auto trans bolt to a 22re .i want to know if i want to ditch it or keep it for a spare.

Diffs will fit. Auto tranny will not, sell it.

And the front Diff isn't electric lok, its ADD. Auto Differential Disconnect and is vacuum powered.

You can change out the shafts to get rid of it.

The diffs will fit fine. Just be aware that factory 4.88 diffs have a unique R+P set, and you can't regear them in the future.
Bell housing bolt patterns are different between 4 and 6 cyl, so sell it.

x2 on the diffs. Just swap the axle tubes on the front diff with yours and you'll be good. The rear diff has an abs sensor. You can either leave the sensor in the diff or make a cap for it. I made a cap and used RTV to seal the cap to the diff.

o I definately have 4.88 and the trans looks the same to me the bellhousings are removable so are you guys sure on the trans because I found a reciept in the truck for a complete rebuild on the trans and transfer case from aamco for 4500.00 its 10 yrs old but the truck has been sitting for 5

100% positive that the v6 tranny WILL NOT bolt to a 22re.
the bell housing to block are different
the bell housing to transmission unit are different
the tail shafts are different
