4-Low/center dif slow to kick on- issue?

I found another 4.7 locally and took it on a test drive yesterday. I checked center dif and 4low. Both took a while to engage and disengage to where I initially thought they were both broken. After cycling it a couple times it seemed to engage and disengage quicker.

Is this a sign of an issue, or just lack of use which will require some consistent cycling during ownership to get working properly. My current one seems to engage very quickly in comparison.

Pretty typical for a system that hasn't been engaged routinely. But at least you know it works, the bigger issue is actuators that won't engage at all.

If you decide to pick it up, I'd do a fluid swap (esp if you have no documentation that it's ever been done) and get into a monthly usage routine.

It should work better the more you use it...BUT I would use the fact that it's very slow to engage to get the price down as much as possible, it's rather costly to rebuild and or replace the transfer case and actuator!!

Ended up buying it. 93K miles on it. My blue one has 184K miles on it.

It's the dark grey color, whatever that is. I think I like the blue better, but figured half the miles was a good starting platform for small lift and supercharger. The blue one will be going to the college kid I think.

After driving it around for a day and cycling it, everything engages very quickly now.

Ordered up front brakes and will be looking for a decent 2-3" lift setup and wheel/tire combo.

Plus it has the backup camera and bluetooth built in which my blue one does not.
