4 or 5 tire rotation and spare question

Limiteds come with five matching wheels, as covered previously. They do this as five tire rotation is specified in the owner's manual.

LOL - put that yellow wheel in rotation! I've yet to see that. Thanks for the lolz. I needed that.

My 2014 Limited has the yellow aluminum wheel with no tpms. Did they change this on the 2015 Limited?

I've got the yellow wheel too (2013). No idea if it has tpms though.

It does not.

As has been discussed on here countless times, the 5G 4R ECU does NOT have the ability to monitor more than 4 TPMS transducers. (If this changed for 2016, I've never seen it stated.

Also, I *think*, even if you do put a TPMS in your spare with intent to do a 5-wheel rotation, you'll need to reprogram the ECU to 'see' it. (And ditto at every rotation thereafter).

Why Toyota did this is a mystery. One would think that a functioning TPMS in the spare would be logical, but a penny saved .....

I'm not sure this answers all your questions but...all T4Rs come with a full sized, matching spare tire but the wheel does not match the four on the ground. It is generally a fairly plain steel wheel. It you get bigger tires, the spare may not fit in the well. A stock size will fit, of course, and a 275 might but I'm pretty sure that a 285 won't.

A spare 285/70/17 will absolutely fit under the vehicle. My 285 BFG KO2 is under there. No problem fitting it, there's plenty of space under there.

Good to know. When you say there's plenty of space I assume you didn't have to air it down at all. Correct?
