4 Runner Commercial

Ahhh yes. I saw that commercial the other day as well. Not sure how making 4Runner owners look like morons is going to sell more of them, but what do I know. I just own a 4Runner.

Finally saw it after others told me about it, I enjoyed it! Of course, I'm originally from Louisiana so instantly got the joke, as they speak a whole different language down there haha

Enjoyed seeing a 4Runner commercial with the Trail and making fun!
 
Saw this one the other day too. Just realized it has Texas plates. It is to make fun of Texans? Colorado already doesn't like us, now it's Louisiana? They're coming at us from both sides! HAHA :brick:

Yea I've been seeing the poison commercial also. It's the only t4r commercial that I've ever seen. It's commercials like that that make me wish I'd gone into advertisement.

Odd that it had Texas plates, but only on the back. Texas has plates on the front too.

It's like they made the whole thing up..:lol:
 
If anyone's curious the agency that works on Toyota in the states is Saatchi & Saatchi LA. The 4Runner work isn't on their site but a bunch of the other stuff is.

Not a huge fan of the evolution from the last Keep it Wild work which was based on a real insight and sold an aspirational version of self. It made the viewer want to buy into something. This new work - what does it ask the viewer to buy into? And it's not even funny.

(I work in the business to think a little too much about it.)
 
First time I saw the commercial with friends, they all said "I don't get it."

My take was I loved the commercial, because basically the guy that got bit by a snake is using that as an excuse to go off-roading, even though he knows the snake wasn't poisonous.

Net net is, 4Runner owners will find an excuse, no matter how big, small, real, etc. to go out and have fun with their vehicle. Anyone who doesn't get that isn't the right target to buy a 4Runner.
 
I have a different take...tho i am not an expert, im a newbee truthfully...


i see it as 'you buy a 4runner because, just when you NEED its capabilities, its there...4WD, rough and rugged through whatever terrain, there it is, jump in and go'....or something like that...

hopefully, they will have a series of these, like they did With Rutledge Wood & Andy Bell

Maybe the next one will be in the desert and youve got to get to your kids soccer game, or in the snow when youve got to get your pregnant wife to the hospital...or something along those lines...

I remember seeing the commercials with the Barcelona Red TE. Living in an area with Giants fans, I recently saw a Toyota commercial with Buster Posey. It was funny because it instantly made me think of the guy who posted a few months back about how the dealer told him they weren't going to be able to deliver his TRDP on time because they had to give it to Buster Posey. Lots of haters in that thread lol.
